How to share Wi-Fi from a laptop
After installing the application, the computer will need to be restarted, and the launch is performed on behalf of the Administrator. After starting, you will see the main window of the program, in which you should set the name of the SSID network, the password for the connection, which is not me, more than 8 characters, and also note which of the Internet connections should be distributed over Wi-Fi. After that, it remains to click “Set up and Start Hotspot” to start the access point on the laptop.
Also, on the second tabs of the program, you can view who is connected to the network or set restrictions on the use of traffic-intensive services.
You can download MyPublicWi-Fi for free from the official website http://www.Mypublicwi-Fi.com/publicWi-Fi/en/index.html
Using a computer-to-computer network (Ad-hoc) to distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi from a laptop in Windows 7 without programs
In Windows 7, the method described above can be implemented, and without resorting to the command line, it is quite SIMple. To do this, go to the Network and Sharing Center (you can through the control panel or by clicking on the connection icon in the notification area), and there click “Set up a new connection or network”.
Select the option “Set up a wireless network computer-to-computer” and click “Next”.
In the next step, you will need to set the network SSID, security type and security key (password on Wi-Fi). To avoid having to configure the Wi-Fi distribution again each time, check the “Save this network settings” item. After clicking the “Next” button, the network will be configured, Wi-Fi will be turned off if it was connected, and instead, it will wait for the connection of second devices to this laptop (that is, from this moment you can find the created network and connect to it).
To connect to the Internet, you need to SHARE Internet access. To do this, go to the Network and Sharing Center again, and there, in the menu on the left, select “Change adapter settings”.
Select your Internet connection (important: you must select exactly the connection that directly serves to access the Internet), right-click on it, click “Properties”. After that, on the “Access” tab, enable the checkbox “Allow other network users to use this computer’s Internet connection”. that’s all, now you can connect to Wi-Fi on your laptop and use the Internet.
How to share Wi-Fi from a laptop
Today we will talk about how to distribute the Internet via Wi-Fi from a laptop or from a computer that has an appropriate wireless adapter. What is it for? For example, you purchased a tablet or phone and would like to access the Internet from it at home, rather than purchasing a router. In this case, you can distribute Wi-Fi from a laptop, which is connected to the network both wired and wirelessly. Let’s take a look at how to do this. In this case, we will consider three ways at once how to make a laptop a router. Ways of distributing Wi-Fi from a laptop are considered for Windows 7, Windows 8, they are also suitable for Windows 10. If you prefer non-standard, or do not like to install additional programs, you can go directly to the method in which the implementation of distribution via Wi-Fi will be organized using windows command line.
And just in case: if you come across a free Wi-Fi HotSpot Creator program somewhere, I really do not recommend downloading and using it. in addition to itself, it will install a lot of unnecessary “garbage” on your computer even if you refuse it. How to distribute the Internet over Wi-Fi using the Windows command line
Well, the penultimate way in which we will organize distribution over Wi-Fi without using additional free or paid programs. So, the way for the geeks. Tested on Windows 8 and Windows 7 (Windows 7 has a variation of the same method, but without the command line, which is described below), it is unknown if it will work on Windows XP.
Press Win R and type ncpa.Cpl, hit enter.
When the list of network connections opens, right-click on the wireless connection and select “Properties”
Switching to the “Access” tab, check the box next to “Allow other network users to use this computer’s Internet connection”, then. “OK”.
Run Command Timeline as Administrator. In Windows 8. press Win X and select “Command Prompt (administrator)”, and in Windows 7. find the command line in the Start menu, right-click and select “Run as administrator”.
Run the netsh wlan show drivers command and see what it says about hosted network support. If supported, then you can continue. If not, then most likely you have installed NOT the original driver for the Wi-Fi adapter (install from the manufacturer’s website), or a really very old device.
The first command that we need to enter in order to make a router out of a laptop looks like this (you can change the SSID to your network name, and also set your password, in the example below, the ParolNaWi-Fi password):
After entering the command, you should see a confirmation that all operations have been performed: wireless access is allowed, the SSID has been changed, the wireless network key has also been changed. Enter the following command
After this entry, you should see a message that “Hosted network is running.” And the last command that you may need and which is useful in order to find out the status of your wireless network, the number of connected clients or the Wi-Fi channel:
Done. Now you can connect via Wi-Fi to your laptop, enter the specified password and use the Internet. To stop the distribution, use the command
Unfortunately, when using this method, the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi stops after each restart of the laptop. One of the solutions is to create a bat file with all the commands in order (one command per line) and either add it to autoload or run it yourself when needed.
Sharing the Internet over Wi-Fi using Connectify Hotspot
The Connectify program, designed to distribute Wi-Fi from a laptop or computer, often works correctly on those computers with Windows 10, 8 and Windows 7 where other methods of distributing the Internet DO NOT work, and it does this for a variety of types of connections, including PPPoE, 3G / LTE modems, etc. Available as a free version of the program, as well as paid versions of Connectify Hotspot Pro and Max with advanced features (wired router mode, repeater and others).
Among other things, the program can track device traffic, block ads, automatically start distribution when you log into Windows, and more. Details about the program, its functions and where to download it in a separate article Distributing the Internet via Wi-Fi from a laptop in Connectify Hotspot.
SIMple Wi-Fi distribution from a laptop connected via a wired connection to the Virtual Router
Many who were interested in distributing the Internet over Wi-Fi from a laptop have heard about such a program as Virtual Router Plus or SIMply Virtual Router. Initially, this section was written in the first of them, but I had to make a number of corrections and explained, which I recommend to Read and only after that decide which of the two you prefer to use.
Virtual Router Plus is a free program that is made from a SIMple Virtual Router (they took open source software and made changes) and is not much different from the original. On the official website, it was initially clean, and recently it has been supplying unwanted software to your computer that is not so easy to refuse. By itself, this virtual router option is good and SIMple, but you should be careful when installing and downloading. At the moment (early 2015), you can download Virtual Router Plus in Russian and without unnecessary things from the site http://virtualrouter-plus.En.Softonic.com/.
The way to distribute the Internet using Virtual Router Plus is very SIMple and straightforward. The disadvantage of this method of turning a laptop into a Wi-Fi access point is that for it to work, the laptop must be connected to the Internet not via Wi-Fi, but either by wire or using a USB modem.
After installation (previously the program was a ZIP archive, now it is a full-fledged installer) and launching the program, you will see a SIMple window in which you need to enter just a few parameters:
- SSID network name. set the name of the wireless network that will be broadcast.
- Password. Wi-Fi password, not less than 8 characters (WPA encryption is used).
- General connection. in this field you should select the connection through which your laptop is connected to the Internet.
After entering all the settings, click the “Start Virtual Router Plus” button. The program will be minimized to the Windows tray, and a message will appear stating that the launch was successful. After that, you can connect to the Internet using your laptop as a router, for example from an Android tablet.
If your laptop is not connected, but also via Wi-Fi, then the program will also start, but you will NOT be able to connect to the virtual router. it will fail when obtaining an IP address. In all other cases, Virtual Router Plus is a great free solution for this purpose. Further in the article is in how the program works.
Virtual Router is an open source virtual router software that underlies the above product. But, at the same time, when downloading from the official site http://virtualrouter.Codeplex.com/ you do NOT risk installing yourself is not what you need (at least for today).
Distribution of Wi-Fi on a laptop in Virtual Router Manager is exactly the same as in the Plus version, except that there is no Russian language here. Otherwise, everything is the same. entering the network name, password and choosing a connection, which should be shared with other devices.
Typical problems when distributing Wi-Fi from a laptop
In this section, I will briefly describe the errors and problems that users face, judging by the comments, as well as the most likely ways to solve them:
- The program writes that it was not possible to start the virtual router or virtual Wi-Fi router, or you receive a message that this type of network is not supported. update the drivers for the laptop Wi-Fi adapter, and not because of Windows, but from the official website of your manufacturer devices.
- The tablet or phone connects to the created access point, but without Internet access. make sure that I am distributing exactly the connection through which the laptop has access to the Internet. Also, a common prerequisite for the problem is that general access to the Internet is blocked by antivirus or firewall (firewall) by default. check this option.
It seems that I did NOT forget anything from the most fundamental and frequently encountered problems.
This concludes this guide. I hope you find it useful. There are other ways to distribute Wi-Fi from a laptop or computer and other programs designed for THESE purposes, but I think the described methods will be enough.
If you do not mind, share the article on social networks using the buttons below.
Create an access point
Our task here is SIMply to raise Wi-Fi on a laptop so that everyone can connect to it. How to do it?
For the distribution of wifa, I have already prepared the most complete instructions. If you have any problems, read it HERE.
Yes, I highly recommend using the article above. there are all detailed instructions with pictures for any worst case. And the main thing is to work everything. There is distribution both through the command term and through the mobile hotspot. Third-party programs like Connectify, Switch Virtual Router, etc. are also NOT forgotten. In general, Lift the access point and go here.
For the lazy, I propose a universal method for any Windows. Run the command term on behalf of the ADMINISTRATOR (highlighted NOT randomly) and execute this command there:
Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = “Wi-FiGid” key = “12345678” keyUsage = persistent
Where Wi-FiGid is the name of the new network being created, 12345678 is its password (change the values for yourself).
And then we launch this network:
Netsh wlan start hostednetwork
For reference. Stopping the network is performed by the command:
Netsh wlan stop hostednetwork
Experienced ones can place all these commands in the Bat file so that they do not enter commands every time the system is restarted.
You should see a message about successful network startup as in the image above. If everything is fine, go to the next step, you can first make sure that a new network has appeared through the same phone. In case of a problem, we restart the computer, try again more carefully, we believe in supporting the distribution of the network with our adapter.
The whole process of setting up a distribution comes down to 3 steps:
- Make sure that the USB modem is connected and distributes via USB Internet to the laptop.
- We create a Wi-Fi access point on a laptop.
- Allowing a USB modem connection to distribute the Internet to our access point.
With the first stage, everything is already clear, it remains to do the last 2. Full customization in:
Allowing Internet Sharing
Now it remains to allow the new access point to use the Internet from USB. There is nothing complicated here, just a few clicks. Windows 7 and 10 have slightly different interfaces. I will use a more modern native “ten” with a reserve for the future, but lovers of the classics will easily find SIMilar elements in themselves. Let’s get started.
- We go to “Network and Internet Settings” (in the past there was the Network and Sharing Center):
- Configuring adapter parameters (Changing adapter parameters on the “seven”):
- In the window that appears, you will see several of your network adapters, including the newly created access point. A modem connection will also be established here (usually referred to as an operator). We will work with him. Right-click on it and select “Properties”:
- Go to the “Access” tab. We put the checkbox for allowing Internet access to the second network users and select our access point in the allowed ones:
Don’t forget to click “OK” to save the settings. The normal thing to do is to restart the internet connection to apply the settings (turn on. turn off the internet on the modem). At this point, the internet should be distributed quietly. With which I congratulate!
In case of any problems, just write about it in the comments. Most likely, we already have a ready-made answer article for your mistake. Just don’t use general phrases like “doesn’t work” without details. it won’t help anyone.
The same mobile hotspot allows SIMultaneous connection of 8 users.
USB modem with Wi-Fi
If you have built-in Wi-Fi in your modem, everything is SIMple there. Usually it is enough to insert this USB modem into a computer or laptop. After that, you will be prompted to run some application for installation (standard operators work through the application) or without it (for example, Iota can work immediately without installation). As a result, after the initial installation, Wi-Fi itself will be distributed.
To set the settings for access, you need to clarify your model and go to the corresponding article on setting up your particular modem. There are many of them, the interfaces are different, it is impossible to show everything in one article. So use our search.
USB modem without Wi-Fi
A case for those who bought themselves a USB modem with 3G / 4G, which for some unknown reason ended up without built-in Wi-Fi. This is the most common situation in humans. It happens to this day. What we have: the modem is configured and when connected to a laptop or computer via USB, it perfectly connects it to the Internet.
Can such a modem distribute Wi-Fi? Not by itself, but you can do it via Wi-Fi of third-party home devices. a laptop or computer with Wi-Fi.
Objective: to distribute this Internet from USB via Wi-Fi to all home devices.
The task is set, we begin to fulfill it. This article provides instructions for owners of operating systems Windows 7. Windows 10. But I understood the technique, you can safely transfer it to other systems.
Some modems support USB connection to routers. You need to make sure in advance that the router and modem are compatible. It’s easier, more reliable, but you need to take care of compatibility in advance and spend money on the Corresponding router. This article is NOT about this and does NOT provide additional costs.
In the distribution technology itself, there is a dependence on the Internet provider (be it MTS, Megafon, Beeline, Iota, Tele2 or others) and the modem itself, but pitfalls are possible, for example, in the form of restrictions on the distribution of the provider itself. This can be bypassed, but look for details in our respective articles. This section shows only the technology of the distribution itself, excluding operators and devices.
How to distribute Wi-Fi from a modem MTS, Megafon, Beeline and not only
Hello! DO NOT know how to distribute Wi-Fi from a modem? Do you really have a modem? In this article, I have prepared a universal crazy instruction that will help anyone with absolutely any device to solve this problem.
As an introduction, I will note that there are several options for problems that you may encounter:
- You have a USB modem without Wi-Fi. and you want to share it through your laptop.
- You have a USB modem with Wi-Fi. and you just don’t know how to turn it on.
- You have an ADSL modem. and you don’t know how to set it up.
All of these options and solutions will be covered in this article. But if you suddenly have any questions, feel free to write them in the comments. Our Wi-FiGid team and personally I will try to figure it out and answer them.
- USB modem without Wi-Fi
- Tuning ALGorithm
- Create an access point
- Allowing Internet Sharing
- USB modem with Wi-Fi
- ADSL modem
With ADSL modems and Wi-Fi distribution through them, everything is more complicated. Here you will NOT be able to do with SIMply inserting them into the USB port, they really need to be configured. But how to configure a specific version of the modem will be difficult to describe here. Easier to drive your model into our search, most likely you will find yourself on the article on Detailed settings. There you will learn everything with text, pictures. In general, this article is not about.
I hope you have succeeded, and now the Internet is distributed wherever you need it. Both from the computer and from the laptop to the phone. Use, write comments, stay always with Wi-Fi!
How to distribute the Internet from a computer using third-party software
If you do NOT want to mess with the command line, you can use a special utility to quickly configure a wireless access point. With the free Connectify Hotspot software, you can get it done in minutes.
- Download and Install Connectify Hotspot.
- Run the program and follow the prompts on the screen. The Russian interface language can be selected in the settings. The utility will ask you to set the type of computer connection to the Internet and the parameters of the new wireless network. After that, it will be named by the start button to activate the access point.
When done, you will be able to share internet to other devices over Wi-Fi. You can control the wireless network right in the program window.
Connectify Hotspot also has a paid version with additional features. For example, it allows you to distribute Not only landline Internet over Wi-Fi, but also 3G and 4G. Hotspot Pro costs 35.
How to distribute internet from a computer through the command term
Another way to share wireless internet without third-party software. Not as SIMple as the previous one, but it works Not only in Windows 10, but also in previous OS versions.
1. Start the command term. To do this, enter “Command” in the search for the system, right-click on the found element and select “Run as administrator”.
2. To create a new Internet distribution network, enter the command netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = Stacy key = 4419E1z # in the line and press Enter. Instead of Stacy, you can enter any other network name, and instead of 4419E1z #. any other password.
3. To activate the created access point, enter the command netsh wlan start hostednetwork and press Enter again. If the commands worked, you will see the following text.
4. Now allow the second users to access the Internet through the created network. First open the Windows “Control Panel” and select “Network and Sharing Center”.
5. Then right-click on the icon for connecting your computer to the Internet, select “Properties” → “Access” and check the boxes next to the permission requests. In the “Home network connection” field, select the wireless connection created in the second step of the instruction.
After that, you can connect other devices to the Wi-Fi network configured in this way using the specified password. To disable the hotspot, type netsh wlan stop hostednetwork at a command prompt. To re-enable it, Use the netsh wlan start hostednetwork command.
If the Internet does NOT work on the connected devices, open the “Device Manager” menu through the “Control Panel”, expand the “Network adapters” item and check that all devices from this list are turned on. If you find inactive among them, enable them using the context menu.
If you have other problems, try reinstalling the network adapter drivers manually by downloading them from the manufacturer’s website, or automatically using Driver Booster or DriverPack service. The latter will do everything for you.
How to distribute the Internet from a computer via cable or Wi-Fi
Several easy ways to share the internet with mobile devices and other computers.
If you need to share the Internet with multiple gadgets, but have a router at hand, you can do without one. This instruction will help you convert your computer into a router for distributing the Internet through an access point (Wi-Fi network) or Ethernet wire.
How to distribute the Internet from a computer using the Mobile Hotspot function (Windows 10 only)
The fastest way to share the Internet without wires, and does not require additional programs and complex settings.
1. Find the menu “Mobile Hotspot”: select “Start” → “Settings” (gears) → “Network and Internet” → “Mobile Hotspot”.
2. In the “Internet Connection Sharing” field, select the type of connection that connects the current computer to the Internet. It can be a Wi-Fi (or 3G) or Ethernet wireless connection.
3. Click “Change” and in the next window specify the name and password for the new wireless network through which the computer will distribute the Internet.
4. At the top of the page, enable the option “Allow the use of my Internet connection on second devices”.
After that, you can distribute the Internet through the created Wi-Fi network. It is enough to connect the necessary devices to it using the password created in the third step. And you can turn off the distribution of the Internet in the same place where the wireless connection is turned off. in the “Network” window on the taskbar.
How to distribute the Internet from a computer using a cable
If you need to share the internet with another computer that has a Wi-Fi adapter, you can do it using a regular internet cable. This method is called network bridging.
- Connect the Ethernet ports of both devices with a cable.
- On the computer from which you want to share the Internet, open the “Control Panel” and go to the “Network and Sharing Center” → “Change adapter settings”. Names may differ in different versions of Windows.
- In the window that opens, select two connections from the Ctrl key. The first should be responsible for connecting your computer to the internet. The second is to connect a second computer to this one. Right click on any of the two connections and select “Bridge Configuration”.
In a few seconds a new connection should appear with the name “Network Bridge”, and next to the used connections the status “Connected, Connected” should be displayed. If everything goes well, the Internet will work on the second computer. But this may NOT happen immediately, but after 10-15 minutes.
How to share the internet on a Windows computer. How to share internet on Mac
In macOS, it’s pretty easy to set up Internet sharing both via cable and Wi-Fi. For this you do not need additional programs.
- Expand the Apple menu and go to System Preferences → Sharing.
- Check the “Shared Internet” box on the left panel and specify the type of connection between the current computer and the Internet in the “Shared connection” list on the right side of the window. For example, if it is connected to the Network via a cable, choose Ethernet.
- In the “For computers using” field, select a method for sharing the Internet with other devices. For example, if you want to distribute the Internet without wires, choose Wi-Fi, if by cable, then Ethernet.
If you selected Wi-Fi, Uncheck the Internet Sharing box, click Wi-Fi Settings and set the hotspot name and password, then check the Internet Sharing box again.
After making THESE settings, you can connect other devices to the computer in the selected way.
Configuring Wi-Fi hotspot on Windows 8 using the command line
This is the first way in which we will NOT use third-party programs, but will do everything as standard features of the operating system. This method is a little more complicated than the second one, which you will find below. But, sometimes setting everything up through the command term is even easier. And problems can arise through third-party programs.
Right-click on the lower left corner (or WinX keyboard shortcut). And select Command Prompt (Admin).
In the command prompt window enter the command (you can just copy and paste):
Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = f1comp key = 12345678
Where “f1comp” is the name of the network, it can be anything. English letters.
And “12345678” is the password for the network. You will need to enter it on the device that you will connect to Wi-Fi. Please enter a password of at least 8 characters. Can be numbers and English letters.
The launch result should appear with information that the network name and password were successfully changed.
We enter one more command:
Netsh wlan start hostednetwork
This is the command to start the access point. Press Enter, and we see the following result:
It should be written that Hosted Network is up and running. If you have the same result as mine in the screenshot above, then you can continue. The command prompt window can be closed.
If you see the error failed to start the hosted network, then execute two commands in turn:
Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = disallow
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow
Go to Device Manager, open Network adapters in the list, right-click on Virtual Hosted Network Adapter and select Enable.
We execute two commands to start the network, in which I wrote above:
Netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = f1comp key = 12345678
Netsh wlan start hostednetwork
I allow Internet sharing
Right click on the connection icon in the lower right corner. Select Network and Sharing Center.
In the new window, on the left, click on Change adapter settings. Further attention! Right-click on the connection through which you get the Internet (I have it Ethernet, since the network cable is SIMply connected to the laptop). And select Properties.
In the new window, go to the Access tab. Check the box next to Allow other network users to use this computer’s Internet connection.
Below in the list, select the network that appeared after the launch of the access point. Most likely, it will look something like the screenshot below.
You can take your device and connect it to the Internet via Wi-Fi, as our laptop is already distributing.
You can see instructions on how to connect to Wi-Fi: TVs with Smart TVs, Android devices, smartphones on Windows Phone.
The most popular problem is when the device connects to an access point created on Windows 8, but the Internet does not work. Websites DO NOT open. Or when having problems getting an IP address.
Solution: Completely Disable antivirus, antivirus utilities, firewalls. Most likely, they are blocking the connection. If after disabling the antivirus everything works, then you need to add the connection to the antivirus exceptions.
Also, check your Internet sharing settings as in the screenshot above.
How to start the network after restarting a laptop?
You probably have a question, but how to restore the wireless network after restarting the laptop.
You just need to run the command:
Netsh wlan start hostednetwork
How we did it above in the article. Entering the network name and password again is not necessary. Will only start the network.
We configure the distribution of the Internet via Wi-Fi from a laptop on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Access point setting
In this article, you will find all the information you need to set up an access point on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. We will configure the distribution of the Internet from a laptop, which runs on Windows 8 and connect our phone, tablet, another computer, TV, etc. to this laptop via Wi-Fi. Our computer will act as a Wi-Fi router.
I have been going to prepare this article for a very long time, as it is a very popular topic at the moment. The article on setting up an access point on Windows 7 has collected a lot of views and comments. And instructions for distributing the Internet from Android devices and even Smart TVs are also popular.
Briefly about what we will do, and why generally launch an access point on a laptop.
For example, you have a laptop (possibly a personal computer with a Wi-Fi adapter). There is wired internet (or internet via 3G / 4G modem). And devices that can be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi. Modern smartphones, tablets, laptops, TVs, almost everyone has this opportunity. Do you have the Internet via cable, or from a USB modem.
We connect the Internet to a computer that has Wi-Fi and run an access point on it. In this article we will do this using the example of Windows 8. That’s all, our laptop receives the Internet via cable, and distributes it via Wi-Fi to the devices we need. That’s the whole scheme;. If you do NOT want to spend money on buying a Wi-Fi router, or you just don’t need it (for example, you rarely need Wi-Fi). Then this way is what you need.
Setting up the distribution of the Internet on Windows 8 practically does not differ in any way from setting up Windows 7 (there is a link to the instructions at the beginning of this article). But, I understand that it is much easier to do everything according to the instructions, which are written specifically for the operating system that is installed on your laptop. And since Windows 8 (8.1) is actively gaining momentum, this article will be useful.
Things to do before configuring the access point?
- You need to connect the internet to your laptop. By cable or via USB modem. There may be some nuances with a USB modem, see this article if you have the Internet via a modem. There’s an article for Windows 7, but that’s okay. If the Internet is connected via a network cable, then problems should not arise. The Internet should work sites in the browser Should open.
- Make sure your laptop has Wi-Fi and the driver is installed on it. If you have previously connected to wireless networks from this laptop, then everything is fine, then the driver is installed. If you do not know if the driver is installed on the wireless adapter, then go to Control Panel. Network and Internet. Network Connections, and see if there is a Wireless network. If there is, then everything is fine. If not, download the driver for your model and operating system from the website of the manufacturer of your laptop (adapter) and install it. Driver for Wireless Wireless LAN Adapter.
That’s all, you can start setting up.
Share the Internet in Windows 8 with MyPublicWi-Fi
This is an easier way. We will launch the network not from the command term, but using the MyPublicWi-Fi program. This is a free, small program with a clear interface, although without the Russian language. Instead of MyPublicWi-Fi, you can use Virtual Router Plus, Connectify and the like. The principle of their work is the same.
Download and install MyPublicWi-Fi. Version 5.1 can be downloaded from this link (I took the file from the official site http://www.Mypublicwi-Fi.com).
Installation is standard. After installation, restart your laptop and launch MyPublicWi-Fi. If an error appears at startup, right-click on the MyPublicWi-Fi shortcut and select Run as administrator.
Highlight the Automatic HotSpot configuration item.
In the Network Name (SSID) field, enter the name of the network being created.
In the Network Key field, enter the password, which will need to be specified on the device to connect.
We put a tick next to Enable Internet Sharing and select the connection in the list with which your laptop is connected to the Internet.
Click on the Set up and Start Hotspot button.
You can already connect devices to the created network. If, again, there is a connection to the network, but the Internet does not work, then check the settings for sharing the Internet (I wrote about this above in the article) and Disable antivirus, firewall and other programs that can block the connection.
In the MyPublicWi-Fi program, on the Clients tab, you can see the devices that are currently connected to your network.
And on the Management tab, you can further customize the program. For example, I checked the box next to Enable Firewall. We prohibit devices that connect to your network to use to download and distribute files through clients such as Torrent and the like.
And if you check the box next to MyPublicWi-Fi Will be launched on every system start, then the program will start automatically when you turn on the computer.
Everything is ready! You can use the Internet.
If you encounter any problems, errors and other difficulties during the setup process, then you can ask a question in the comments. Describe the problem in as much detail as possible, and we will try to figure it out together. Good luck!
How to share Wi-Fi from a laptop on Windows 7
How to organize a home network “Computer-Computer”
To do this, in the so-called tray (lower right corner, where the clock and date, as well as other icons are located), you need to find the “Internet connection” icon (as in the picture).
Click on the icon, and in the window that appears below you need to click “Network and Sharing Center”. If you cannot find the icon, then in the “Start” menu in the search bar, write the specified phrase and start the service.
In the window that appears, you need to click “Set up a new connection”. Next, select “Configure the wireless network” Computer-Computer “and click” Next “.
A window will appear in which you need to fill in only three columns:
- Network name. can be anything you like;
- Security type. it is recommended to select “WPA2-ptrsonal;
- The security key is a password that will be required in the future to connect other devices. You also invent it yourself, but you need to remember it.
