The Xbox One game console and the Windows 10 PC operating system are just two of the most successful products in Microsoft’s arsenal.
The Xbox One goes toe-to-toe with Sony’s Playstation 4 game console and so far, it still lags a bit behind. Because of this, Microsoft has prompted to do what none of the gaming companies have done: the Xbox One and Windows 10 crossover.
In the near future, the Xbox One and Windows 10 will be fully integrated. What this means is that you can play Xbox One games on a Windows 10 PC and you can also play a Windows 10 game on the Xbox One.
On the surface, the idea is great. You get to use two of your great products to create one gaming portal that everyone can enjoy.
But, as great as this idea is, there are some warnings and some gaming authorities are reluctant to say that this would be a good thing.
You see, Windows 10 is not a bonafide gaming platform. What I mean by this is that the operating system is really not built solely for gaming. Unlike Steam where players can buy games, the Windows 10 store is still very much premature.
Also, how will they actually do this? I mean, there are some game console ports that are bad on the PC and vice versa. How will they be able to retain or even improve the performance of a game when you’re playing on the Windows 10 PC or the Xbox One game console?
Well, that still remains to be seen but I have to say that the idea is really good. But, I am not dissing Microsoft here, they actually have a good thing going on.
Now, I am going to talk about the positives. If Microsoft is able to iron out any problems with regards to the game console or the PC, then it will be a great idea indeed.
This is further supported with the idea that the rumored Xbox “Scorpio” will continue this trend.
The Xbox Scorpio, at least according to rumors and speculations, is one of the best game consoles that will hit the market anytime in the next 2 years.
Microsoft also confirmed that their new consoles will support the Windows 10 and Xbox crossover so that is good news.
If this is indeed successful, other game developers will utilize their time and effort in delivering games that can be played on both of the platforms with ease.
And, I would also like to point out that the Xbox Scorpio should be a damn good game console to match most of the modern PC’s performance.
I am excited to see if this idea by Microsoft will be a hit or miss. What are your thoughts about this move by Microsoft?
