What to reply when someone asks what's your story? ›

"Thank you for asking about me. It's a rare quality that people actually want to take the time to know each other's stories. I think if I had to sum up what I'm about, I would say I love to encourage people.

It means “tell me about yourself” and it is basically asking for you to give a short history of your life. The person wants to know what events in life brought you here (to this moment).

The asker is simply saying, “I'd like to know you better. Would you tell me a little more about yourself?” The questioner isn't asking you to take stock of your entire existence and frame it into a compelling narrative on the spot.

answer, response, reply, rejoinder, retort mean something spoken, written, or done in return. answer implies the satisfying of a question, demand, call, or need. response may imply a quick or spontaneous reaction to a person or thing that serves as a stimulus.

A good rule of thumb is to start in the action of the story – this will draw people in. From there, ask yourself if you'll tell your story in chronological order, or if you'll start at the end and find your way back to the beginning, or if you want tell it in a series of flashbacks instead of a linear structure.

You can start with a definition or facts. In the main body, explain the question at hand in detail. Organizing your argument into bullet points or paragraphs will make it easier for the examiner to go through the topic. Lastly, end your answer with a balanced conclusion that sums up all your arguments in 3 to 5 lines.

Why should I tell my story? ›

Even though it's scary to reveal your most difficult moments, this is exactly the effect you're going to have on other people when you do. You might feel fear or embarrassment when telling the story, but you're actually paving the way for others to connect with their struggle in a more meaningful and positive way.

A story's message, or theme, is what the author wants to teach you through his or her writing. Some stories have a specific kind of message called a moral, or a life lesson. You can find the message of a story by looking at the characters' actions and focusing on what is repeated throughout the story.
