May sound like a silly question but I've been wondering this for years.
Many recipes, especially southern and or BBQ style, call specifically for Dukes. It is advertised as having "twang". Apparently it has more yolks?
My question, is the flavor difference between Hellman's and Dukes discernible in the final product?
Respectfully,
JD

I buy Duke's. But if you make me a sandwich with Hellmann's, I'll eat

Dukes has cider vinegar and more eggs. It is richer and does have a bit more of a tang.
It definitely tastes different than Hellman’s (we keep both here because wife prefers Hellman’s)

Dukes is the only mayonnaise there is. Rest of that stuff is for salad dressing.
Since it originated in my home town it's the only mayo we've ever used. Dukes sandwich shop makes thousands of sandwiches a day here.

Hellman's because they don't sell a light version of Duke's around here.
Gotta watch my girlish figure.

Both are popular in my part of FL. I buy whatever is a BOGO when I need to restock. Using Dukes at home right now.......I honestly can't tell the difference.

The local grocery chain started carrying Dukes recently. Bought a jar to see what all the hub bub was about with Dukes. I can't really tell the difference, will buy whichever one is on sale.

I actually prefer Miracle Whip on leftover turkey sandwiches. But only on turkey sandwiches. :noidea:

My mother used that crap when I was growing up, it was the driving factor for me to move out on my own.

Dukes house here but I'll eat it (Hellman's) if it's the only thing.

I definitely prefer Duke's, but I will eat whatever. Only buy Duke's and Miracle Whip. I use Miracle Whip in salad's (potato, chicken, etc...) because of the sweet factor.

I did a side by side taste test of Duke's, Hellman's, Blue Plate, and Kraft and actually prefer Kraft. It's smoother and middle of the pack in sweetness/tartness.
If if I need more tang in a final product I'll add lemon juice or vinegar.

It is usually Best Foods around here. It's mayo and not a big difference between them.
I don't like miracle whip but MSD does.

I don't care for mayo in general, but will eat in in salads, not on sandwiches.
My wife gets Duke's from the commissary, but will use Hellman's if Duke's isn't available.
For BBQ, I use whatever is cheapest because it doesn't really impart any flavor, and I'm adding spices, other ingredients to the mix.
