How to understand that your gadget has this particular malfunction

The “white screen of death”, as iPhone users often call this problem, can be easily distinguished from any other malfunctions. The main signs of a breakdown:

  • the white screen on the iPhone is on, and the smartphone does not perform any further actions
  • a white screen and a black apple are on (as when loading the device), but the desktop does not turn on

In this case, the gadget usually turns off normally, but when turned on does not load the desktop. Both of these signs indicate that an error has occurred in the program, or the iPhone screen turns white due to hardware problems. As a rule, it is impossible to get rid of a white monitor using the usual methods. the gadget turns off, but when turned on it does not load the desktop, and the screen just continues to glow.

In some cases, getting rid of the “white screen of death” is quite simple, without even resorting to the help of specialists. However, if a gadget with an apple logo falls from a height, most likely the white monitor lights up due to mechanical damage, and it is far from always possible to get rid of it on your own.

IPhone screen and LCD panel

A broken LCD panel is a more serious problem. As a rule, this part cannot be repaired. However, a simpler outcome is also possible. if the panel itself is in order, and the contact simply disconnected. In this case, it is enough to do the following:

  • remove the back cover of your iPhone. arm yourself with small screwdrivers and a suction cup to gently remove the back cover
  • inspect all contacts (they are numbered). you should be interested in the contact
  • if it does not “sit” in the right slot. just gently insert it into place
  • assemble the device

If it was an LCD panel, then the white screen should stop glowing. After turning on the iPhone, it should boot normally.

Despite the fact that Apple produces fairly high-quality electronics, fans of gadgets with the apple logo are still not immune from problems, and one of them is the white screen on the iPhone. Sooner or later, such a nuisance can happen to every owner of a gadget, therefore it is better to immediately arm yourself with the knowledge of what to do in this situation.

When iPhone screen turns white due to software errors

The most common reason a white screen comes on is a software error. If the display turns white for this very reason, then you’re in luck. Fixing your phone is easy, and you don’t need to take it to a service center. To get rid of the “glitch” when the iPhone screen turns white due to errors in applications or iOS, it is enough to adhere to the following algorithm:

  • hold down the Home button and the shutdown button
  • hold the buttons until the device reboots
  • make sure the iPhone is working

If the reboot does not occur, you can try another option. hold down Home, then press the volume up and off keys. If the problem was in the software, the iPhone should work fine. True, it is possible that the white display will reappear after some time, because software errors rarely disappear on their own. The options for getting out of the situation are a new firmware or the delivery of the gadget under warranty. In Apple branded services, such problem devices are easily repaired or replaced with new ones.

If the screen is white due to digitizer failure

The third option, why the screen is white when you turn on the iPhone, is the failure of the touch panel. It is easy to distinguish it from the previous one: if the LCD breaks down, the phone will receive calls even if you see only a white screen in front of you. To answer a call, you just need to swipe across the screen where the call acceptance slider should be. If you cannot answer, then the reason is precisely the inoperative touch panel (digitizer). What to do next:

  • open the gadget as described above
  • take off the old digitizer
  • install new
  • after assembling the white screen should not appear

It should be noted that you can independently repair a smartphone even if it is under warranty. Neither the digitizer nor the LCD panel is factory sealed, so you will not violate your warranty claims.

Why does the iPhone screen turn white?

The symptoms described above may have different underlying causes. Let’s consider the probable causes of breakage and methods of “curing” the white screen on the iPhone:

  • software errors. “treated” by connecting to iTunes
  • breakage of the LCD panel. it needs to be replaced
  • breakdown of the digitizer (the device responsible for touch functions). replacement of the panel and digitizer is required
  • mechanical damage. diagnostics and restoration or replacement of parts is required

Fortunately, in all cases, except for the last one, the white display can be “cured” without going to the service, which means that long waiting times can be avoided.

On Xiaomi phones, the “Sleep Mode” option can be found in the “Lock and Protection” section.

On standard Android OS, you will not be able to completely disable smartphone display fading. And the maximum shutdown interval is 30 minutes. But on firmwares of the MIUI and EMUI level, this is quite possible, there is an option “Do not turn off” or “Never”.

Why does my mobile phone screen go blank?

As you know, the function of automatically turning off the phone screen (the so-called “transition to sleep mode”) existed even before the appearance of the first smartphones. The main reason for its introduction is the need to preserve the discharge of the battery, which the working screen is actively discharging.

Added to this was security considerations when, along with turning off the display, the phone began to lock and go out. This made it possible to avoid the influence of intruders, and prevent both reading information from the screen and interfering with the functionality of the device.

Nevertheless, there are various ways to make sure that the smartphone does not go out, as well as to increase the duration of its operation. Let’s figure out how to do it.

Mobile applications that prevent turning off the phone screen

There are also a number of mobile applications that allow you to keep your phone screen on.

Appendix: Description:

After completing the operation, make sure that the screen is working properly during a call and does not go out.

Why the display on the smartphone does not fade

Dozens of different sensors are installed in a modern mobile phone: magnetometer, gyroscope, accelerometer, etc. Without them, the device would be pretty boring and would not do most of the work a smartphone does in our hands. For example, the accelerometer has a rather important mission. It slows down the rotation of the smartphone screen when tilting (if enabled). Thus, without it, the device would change the position of the picture immediately, which is very inconvenient. Or this function would not be available at all.

Reasons: Features:
When updating The error can occur when loading new system components.
Failure of the sensor itself This often happens if you have been using the device for several years in a row.
The sensor is just off To activate, you need to correctly configure the parameters.

There are special applications for Android mobile phones in the Play Market. They allow calibration. Then the sensor starts working again. And in clinical cases, when applications do not help, flashing the phone fixes this problem.

Re-calibrating the proximity sensor

Sometimes the source of the problem is an update of the Android version, which for some reason leads to a misalignment of the proximity sensor. How do I calibrate the sensor? To calibrate, you can use the free Proximity Sensor Reset / Repair app, which you can use to re-calibrate the sensor on Android.

Run the application, then click “Calibrate sensor” and wait for the wizard to start, which will walk you through the calibration process step by step.

At the first stage, you need to cover the top of the screen with your palm to close the proximity sensor and let it determine that there is some object nearby. In the second step, you need to open the sensor. remove your hand and wait 2 seconds until it catches the distance from the object.

Finally, you need to confirm the new calibration, which will reboot the phone. After that, you can check if the calibration helped. if so, now the screen should turn off and light up accordingly during a call.

How to keep the screen from dimming in Windows, Android and iOS. Video

By default, the display of devices turns off after a few minutes of inactivity, which is justified by energy savings. But there are situations when it is necessary for it to remain active: for example, I need it when I redraw pictures from a tablet. It is very easy to make the screen not go blank in the settings of any device on any operating system.

How to keep the screen on Android

  • Open Settings.
  • We are looking for the item “Screen” and in it the section “Auto-lock”, “Sleep mode” or something like that. On Flyme 7 and Android 7.1.2 it looks like “Screen and brightness” and then “Auto-lock”.
  • We select the time interval during which the display will not turn off. In the settings on the aforementioned OS in a company with a software shell, the maximum is 30 minutes.

How to keep the screen on in Windows

In order to keep the screen on a computer or laptop running Windows, you need to configure two parameters: the auto-off time and the time to go to sleep. Fortunately, they are located in the same settings section.

  • In Windows 10, click on the Start button in the form of windows, and find the “Parameters” gear.
  • In the “Screen” subtitle, select the time after which the equipment will turn off when the user is inactive: from 1 minute to 5 hours or “Never”. If you have a laptop, you can configure this setting while on battery power, plugged in, or both, depending on how you normally use the laptop.
  • Under the heading “Sleep,” we do the same so that the computer does not go into sleep mode while you need an active display.

How to keep the screen on in iOS

On iOS, you can also cancel the automatic shutdown of the display in a few taps.

Also, auto-blocking can be configured from the “Battery” section. Screenshots capture iOS 12.1 on iPad.

It is difficult to imagine usage scenarios in which a permanent display is needed all the time. And if it is not perceptible when a computer or laptop is operating from the network, then on mobile devices it will pretty much drain the battery. Therefore, do not forget to return the settings to the original ones as soon as you no longer need this option.

Apply a piece of tape to the proximity sensor

The most common problem with the proximity sensor occurs after replacing the screen on an iPhone. The sensor brings to the senses one repeatedly proven method. You need to stick a small piece of transparent tape on the sensor, then paint over the tape with a black marker.

Service center technicians also note that instead of scotch tape, it is more efficient to use a piece of rubber band about 5 mm long. It needs to be glued between the light and proximity sensors, after which the problem with the turned on iPhone screen during a call will disappear.

Of course, the iPhone will have to be disassembled to gain access to the sensor. You can do this with your own hands. The instructions below show you a detailed breakdown of the various iPhone models:

The screen does not turn off when talking on the iPhone. what to do

The proximity sensor is responsible for the function of dimming the iPhone screen during a call. It fires when something covers it. During a conversation, this “something” is the person’s head, to which the iPhone is brought. Thus, if the iPhone screen does not turn off during a call, the proximity sensor is to blame. How to figure out why the screen does not turn off during a call on the iPhone was described in this guide.

Remove the protective film / glass

However, it is not always a question of a sensor breakdown. Sometimes the fault for the impossibility of its operation lies with the protective film or glass. In the event that the film or glass is dark in color, the proximity sensor simply cannot work through them. The solution in such a situation is quite obvious. the protective film or glass must be removed.

It is important to note that if the proximity sensor on your iPhone with film has been working correctly for a long time, then the chances that the problem is that the sensor is blocked by the film is rather low.

Restore iPhone

If the matter is not in the film, then, most likely, the proximity sensor is out of order. Nevertheless, before going to a service center or starting to repair your iPhone yourself, it is recommended to check your smartphone for the presence of a software error. Rarely, but it still happens that the failure of the proximity sensor is responsible for the failure of iOS.

Restore iPhone via iTunes allows you to reset all errors. A detailed description of this process is available in this manual.

IPhone screen not dimming when talking? Decision!

First of all, take a close look at the front of the gadget. Do you see films, glasses, covers on it. covering the front side of the iPhone? Even if they seem completely transparent to you, it makes sense to get rid of them and test the operation of the light sensor without such accessories.

If this did not help, and all the previous tips (reset, reboot, restore) were followed, then most likely the matter is in the light sensor. He could just “move away” or break.

That is why, when you bring your phone to your face during a call, your iPhone does not know that it needs to turn off the screen and it doesn’t happen. There will be only one solution. replacing the proximity sensor. Fortunately,

Why the iPhone screen does not turn off automatically and what to do?

All ardent categorical greetings! Constantly active backlighting of the screen can become a rather big problem. after all, the fact that the display does not turn off automatically leads to all sorts of inconvenient things. Which ones? But for example: very fast battery consumption, strong heating of the device, and in general it is terribly annoying, since it is almost impossible to operate an iPhone in such a state!

No, of course there is one win-win option. put your smartphone on charge and never unplug it from the outlet. How do you like that? I do not like. Much better. once and for all deal with the always “on” display of the iPhone. This is what we are going to do with you today. Are you ready? Reade set Go. Let’s go! 🙂

What situations can cause the iPhone screen backlight to be constantly active:

  • Mechanical damage. fall, impact, other deformation of the case.
  • Poor quality repairs or components. For example, let’s take the iPhone 4 model (yes, it was a long time ago, but for an example it will do). Often, when replacing the screen in this model, they forgot to install (they did not know about it at all, it was too lazy to look for) the so-called uv-filter for the light sensor. Because this thing came only with the original sensor (which comes from the factory), and the one that was installed instead of it was without this filter. Accordingly, due to its absence, the proximity sensor worked “anyhow” and the iPhone screen did not go out on its own during a conversation.
  • Moisture and other troubles can also lead to malfunctions of the backlight.

But you never know what else can be! Let’s take a better look at all the ways to solve the problem of a non-dying iPhone screen.

So, here are the universal actions that are appropriate for each case:

  • Hard and forced reboots.
  • Updating or restoring software via DFU, after that it is important not to restore the backup and observe the behavior.
  • The display does not go out during a call.
  • Does not lock automatically, does not turn off the screen after receiving a notification or in standby mode.

IPhone display does not turn off after receiving notification or SMS

The situation is as follows. a notification comes to the locked iPhone, the display naturally lights up, but later it does not go out automatically, and you can turn it off only by pressing the lock button. I know from myself. terribly annoying.

Received a notification at night, wake up in the morning. the phone is completely discharged.

I’ll tell you right away and please. the problem, most likely, is in the software. This means that there is a chance to fix everything without going to the service center. What can be done:

  • First of all, go to Settings. General. Auto-lock. If it is set there. “never”, then this is precisely the reason that the screen is not automatically locked. Set the exact time interval (by default it is 1 minute).
  • Next, you should follow the steps that are indicated at the beginning of the article, namely, a full reset and restore the firmware. But there is a small “hitch” here. such actions are not always convenient to perform, and it takes a long time. Therefore, you can do this
  • Remember which games and applications you have installed recently and uninstall them one at a time and check if the situation has changed for the better. And of course, if you have a jailbreak on your device, then you should also pay attention to those tweaks that are installed, they certainly can lead to the fact that the screen will not go blank.

Finally, I would like to note that you should not forget about the warranty (which in some cases is two years!) And if you are too lazy to look for the cause of the breakdown yourself, feel free to bring it to the workshop. In the end, this is their job, let them figure it out themselves. You need to know your rights! 🙂

iPhone works, but the screen does not light up

Often, by “off”, users mean insufficient backlighting, which confuses the wizards. If your screen just glows dimly, but the picture on it is clear and the device’s response is good, increase the brightness in the settings. 100% will help if the firmware is original and correct. A non-working point for changing the backlight can be the cause of an error during the update, this is corrected by the firmware, which is also better to do in the service.

If you don’t want to contact the service for such a trifle, try resetting the settings to the factory settings, it can also help. Do not get carried away with unauthorized flashing: the same JailBreaks are capable of injecting malicious code into the system, forcing individual iPhone nodes to malfunction.

Screen does not work on iPhone 4s after flooding

Having “expiated” your device, you run the risk of finally ditching it, so do the following as soon as possible:

  • Turn off your phone;
  • Disconnect the battery (you need a screwdriver for small screws, it is screwed on);
  • Wipe off any visible water;
  • Place iPhone in a container of rice and leave for 24 hours.
READ  Disable Find iPhone in Settings

After that, the device can turn on, but it is better not to risk it and contact the service. Instead of rice, you can use a hairdryer or a special cover, but in the case of a hairdryer there is a risk of damaging the insides and finally “killing” the device, and in the second case, the price of a cover may be higher than the price of repair from honest craftsmen.

IPhone has blanked out screen, but it works. what to do

If the iPhone does not have a screen, not all owners know what to do, but meanwhile the question is very, very relevant: the cost of the display is high, so replacing it unknowingly can lead to unnecessary expenses. To avoid this, it is important to know two things: the reasons for the occurrence and how to fix the problem without harm to the phone.

Choosing a service

High-quality service is the key to the iPhone’s work

IPhone works but the screen is black? Our masters know what to do! ” A similar statement in different forms is found in contextual advertising and in paper advertisements, the essence is the same: to lure you as a client. Do not get fooled by discounts and free diagnostics: a licensed service takes money for diagnostics, but then deducts its amount from the cost of the service. What to look for when visiting:

By the way, services that promise “only original spare parts” are often cunning: Apple does not have original spare parts, there are high-quality Chinese counterparts. The paradox is that phones are repaired with the same parts from which high-quality replicas are assembled. After handing over the device, do not forget to take the certificate of acceptance of equipment for repair, in which the identifier of your iPhone must be indicated.

Fix Any iPhone Frozen/Stuck/Loop Screen (How to Force Restart!)

Screen stopped working on iPhone 4

Before rushing about in a panic and looking for advice wherever possible, check if your device is frozen. Yes, Apple devices almost never freeze, which is why this phenomenon is mistaken for a breakdown. The non-working screen in this case is easily corrected by rebooting (holding the shutdown button and sleep / home). If this helps, but it is repeated often, immediately contact the service. the screen is in order, but the system itself or the components are “naughty”. they need to be repaired.

IPhone Screen Blank Causes Alarm

If the restart did not help or the apple symbol does not appear, go to the next step. Another reason why the screen on the iPhone 4 does not work may be its Chinese origin: non-original equipment breaks down very quickly, not to mention the fact that its repair exceeds, but then go broke on replacements.

IPhone 4 screen not working: what to do

Check the battery charge before disassembling

The first thing to start with diagnostics is to check the charge level. Oddly enough, one of the reasons people turn to Apple services is banal forgetfulness: a completely discharged phone may not turn on even when working from charging, which people who are especially prone to panic perceive as a breakdown.

If charging is okay, check your iPhone. It does not show the screen, but everything else works. you should think again if you or anyone else has ever poured the device, because the remaining moisture is insidious and hurts the entire device slowly, even if it worked before. There were no such cases? Well, you are a very neat user, so the reason that the iPhone’s screen stopped working, there is sound, and the calls go through, is either a breakdown of the screen as a whole, or a loose cable.

Having experience in assembling and disassembling complex electronic devices, you can independently disassemble your iPhone and check the reliability of the loop fastening, but remember: if the phone has a guarantee, this should not be done, then any service will withdraw the warranty due to opening.

There is no guarantee. there are no fears, you can check. In the case of a correctly looking cable, it is better to take the iPhone for examination. Advice for owners of CRT TVs and screens (if there are still any): do not put the device on them, the screen does not work for the iPhone 4c after a long lay. Either charging with reboot or service helps. The effect of the CRT on the iPhone screen is palpable.

iPhone under warranty

You have a warranty iPhone 4s, the screen does not work, you do not know what to do. refer to the Apple website with a question. If the phone is not stolen, not overbought from another buyer, or has not been exposed to the outside from your side, then Apple engineers will be happy to help you, because the high price includes a cool warranty service.

The site will help you determine the position of the nearest licensed service, tell you what to take with you, and also warn you against self-repair. Remember: during the warranty period, any breakdowns not related to drowning or mechanical damage is a service problem, not yours. Do not be afraid, the masters will be happy to help you, especially if you are polite to them.

What to do if iPhone does not turn on the screen during a call

It is worth examining how the iPhone display behaves during a call. Especially in the event that a film or glass is stuck on the display.

Occasionally, the screen may not turn off when you bring your iPhone closer to your ear while on an active call. Or vice versa, do not turn back when moving away from the head until the end of the conversation.

There may be several reasons for this, so we will analyze each separately.

Software problems

The first step is to eliminate the possibility of software glitches and errors. This can be done at home, while you will save the time spent by the gadget in the service center, if it turns out that the cause of the malfunction is the breakdown of components.

First, make sure not to use test versions of iOS and developer firmware.

We have already described in detail how to roll back to the stable version of iOS and disable the ability to download beta releases of the system.

Restart your device and try to track down the problem.

Sometimes these glitches disappear after the gadget is restarted or Hard Reset. Read more about how to do this here.

Remove applications that are embedded in standard programs.

Sometimes, all kinds of extensions for the Phone programs (caller IDs and filters for calls), Messages (add-ons for iMessage) or third-party keyboards from the App Store can lead to such failures.

Remove such programs while checking the smartphone.

Disable two important system settings. The incorrect response of the sensor can be affected by the iOS chips “Raise to activate” (Settings. Screen and brightness) and “Swipe to open” (Settings. Accessibility. Home button) on iPhone models without Face ID.

Turn both off and check for a glitch.

Restore the firmware on the device.

The last way to check if the software is working is to reset the device and restore the factory firmware. This way you can get rid of jailbreak-related glitches or system crashes due to regular over-the-air updates.

You can try a factory reset first, and then iOS restore. Detailed instructions are attached.

Accessory problems

If all manipulations with the software did not give any result and the glitch appears with the same frequency, you should proceed to checking the accessories used.

Get rid of covers and cases.

The first on the list of unsuccessful accessories may be the iPhone case. This is especially true for accessories that cover the screen or the top of the gadget from the front side.

The case can interfere with the correct operation of the sensors. This will happen both due to the banal closure of the sensors, and due to the presence of magnets in the case design.

Do not use removable accessories.

Removable accessories such as attachment lenses for a camera, aqua box or a tripod with a powerful mount can lead to problems with triggering sensors on the top of the smartphone.

For the duration of testing, discard such accessories.

Remove glass or protective film.

As much as you would like to remove the protective coating from the front panel, but in any case it will be removed when checking the gadget in the service center.

Perhaps it is poor-quality protection that interferes with the correct operation of the proximity sensor.

Iron problems

If all the described procedures do not give any effect, then the problems are with the iPhone components.
