How to install Mac OS on a laptop: instructions
Today the operating system developed by Apple is considered to be the model. In fact, it is. With its amazing performance and perfect looks, Mac OS has turned out to be much better than Microsoft’s popular brainchild. This is not discrimination, but a simple statement of fact. Microsoft’s operating systems have always lagged behind the Mac in terms of performance and design. Apple one day just decided to switch to Intel processors. From that moment on, it became possible to install Mac OS on a regular personal computer. But in reality everything is not so simple here. Installing Mac OS on an ordinary personal computer or laptop can be a prerequisite for a severe nervous breakdown. The fact is that Mac OS does not support all hardware. Getting it under this operating system is sometimes very problematic. But still we will try. This article will provide instructions for installing the Mac OS operating system on a laptop.
Mac OS: installation risk
There are many risks involved in installing Mac OS on a PC. This is due to the fact that this operating system is simply not designed for our wooden computers. First of all, it’s worth noting that some important components of your computer might simply refuse to work. It is not known whether they will work under this operating system. In addition, installing Mac OS on a laptop or computer is accompanied by increased damage to nerve cells, which can lead to unexpected hardware breakdown if you cannot install everything the first time. Installing Mac OS on a computer other than the original Mac is generally a crime. But if all the listed dangers DO NOT scare you, then go ahead. Installing the Mac OS operating system on a laptop always comes with many risks. For the most part, Mac OS laptops are the most problematic devices. If on a personal computer you can change the configuration to a compatible one, then with laptops you will not be able to throw out this trick. To fully launch the Mac OS operating system on a laptop, you will need to use many crutches. The more such “crutches” you use, the less stable the operating system will behave.
So, despite all the dangers that await you, do you still want to install Mac OS on your laptop or personal computer? Well then let’s continue.
Mac OS: what you need to install
First of all, you need a computer with a compatible processor. Otherwise, nothing will come of this venture. At the moment, the Mac OS operating system supports Intel’s Atom and Core processors. The processor must support Ivy Bridge and the SSE instruction set. If your device uses a different processor, then it is better to immediately abandon the idea of installing Mac OS. Let’s talk a little about devices with processors from AMD. Theoretically, you can make the Mac OS operating system work on such processors, but no one can guarantee the stability of the operation. In addition, the likelihood of congestion and crashes increases since AMD is not designed for Mac OS. If your laptop has a suitable configuration, then you can start preparing the USB media for installing Mac OS. For this purpose, it is recommended to use a flash drive of 16 GB or more. The image of the installed system “weighs” about 10 GB. You will also have to stock up on free time and patience. Installing Mac OS on a laptop from a flash drive Takes about 4-6 hours. The installation itself is pretty quick, but not everything works out the first time. In addition, setting up the system itself is quite time consuming. Well let’s start.
Mac OS: preparing a distribution image and a flash drive
Since we’re going to install the original Mac OS, we’ll first need to download a system image from the App Store. The most sane version at the moment is Mac OS XYosemite, which is what we will install. Practice shows that today the best option for creating a bootable flash drive is to create it under the installed Mac OS operating system. However, not all users have it at hand. This means that you will need to install it on the virtual machine and create bootable media under it. Suppose you have Mac OS installed on your computer. What to do next? The next step is to download Special Programs that allow you to deceive the operating system and make it believe that it is installed on a computer made by Apple. Such programs are also called “crutches”. These are products such as Uni Beast and Multi Beast. Next, you need to format the flash drive in Mac OS Extended format. Then you need to start the Uni Beast program and everywhere click on the Continue and Agree buttons until we get to the choice of the operating system version. Here you need to select our distribution and enable support for Laptop Support laptops. After that, you must click Continue and Install. The image will be recorded within half an hour. Now you can proceed to the next step of the instruction.
Mac OS: before installation
There are a few useful things that you know best before you start installing the Mac OS operating system. First, we have to do some magic over the BIOS. If you do not disable some options, you will NOT be able to install Mac OS. So, for this you need to go into the BIOS and completely disable AHCI support. After that, you need to turn off the discrete video card, since it will not start, no matter what you do. Now we put the boot from a USB drive in the first place. It seems that everything is with the BIOS. Some may wonder how it is possible to install Mac OS on a laptop from ASUS, if it is NOT possible to disable the video card in the BIOS. The answer to this question is pretty simple: don’t disable. She herself will not start. It will also be helpful to check memory and disk for errors before installation. The macOS operating system is extremely moody. Just one mistake can lead to fatal consequences. If no errors were found, then you can proceed with the installation process. The previously prepared flash drive must be inserted into the connector on the laptop. Also, do not forget to reset the BIOS settings to standard before disabling the video card and AHCI. It will be better this way.
Mac OS: installation
The Chameleon shell will boot first. Here you will be asked to choose a boot method: from a hard drive or flash drive. You need to choose a method of booting from a flash drive with the display of the installation log. This will help you understand what the error is. After downloading the necessary kexts, the Mac OS installer will load. Next, you need to format the section. Here you need to select “disk utility”, select the desired partition and format it in “MacOS X Journal”. Then you need to click on the “Next” button. As a result, the installation process should begin. If everything is in order, then immediately after creating an account, the operating system will drop you onto the desktop. If the installation was stopped for some reason, then you need to find out what the problem is. Installation in most cases is stalled due to the video card. In this case, you need to restart the laptop and register the Graphics Enabler-Yes key when choosing to boot from a flash drive. After that, everything should go fine. Many users today are interested in the question of how you can install the Mac OS operating system on a laptop from Acer with hybrid graphics. The answer to this question is pretty simple: just the same. You only need to disable the discrete video adapter.
Mac OS: after installation
If the installation was completed successfully, then you can proceed to the procedure for configuring the installed operating system. This is simply necessary. If you do not do this, then after rebooting the operating system will not start due to the lack of the necessary kexts. To set up macOS, you need to run the previously downloaded Multi Beast program. It is this program that can help you to properly configure the Mac OS operating system. How to install and configure Mac OS on a laptop from Lenovo? In the same way, although there are certain features for devices from this manufacturer, in which it is better to find out in advance. Some models are equipped with Wi-Fi transmitters, which do NOT run at all under macOS. Replacing the adapter can help here. If you have a laptop from a second manufacturer, then you can continue the setup procedure. In the Multi Beast program, you must select the driver. You also need to choose the DSDY-lit of that laptop from Apple, which in terms of technical characteristics is most similar to yours. Next, all that remains is to click on the Build button, and then on Install. When the installation of the necessary kexts is completed, you will need to restart the computer in order for the changes to take effect.
Dos and Don’ts when using Mac OS on a laptop?
Mac OS: What to Learn to Understand Installation Principles
To understand how to properly install Mac OS on a laptop, you need to have some special knowledge. As practice shows, very few people succeed in installing this operating system on a regular computer the first time. Some errors are bound to occur, good, if not too serious. In order not to fall asleep at the first obstacle, it is better to study a little specialized forums. Their inhabitants know everything about installing Mac OS on personal computers. They can help you with many problems if needed. There are also many resources out there that go into the process of installing a Mac operating system on a laptop in some detail. It also usually describes how to fix common errors. These resources are very easy to find on the Internet. Some wizards can even set up kexts and DSDTs for you, but of course, not for free. So, it’s better to figure out the process of installing and configuring Mac OS on your own.
Mac OS: Which Distributions Better Not to Use
You should NOT try to use distributions that are already prepared for installation on a PC. Usually they are very crooked, since in this case the creators tried to make a universal system out of an individual one. And this is simply impossible. So it’s better to try to figure out how to install Mac OS on your machine from scratch.
How to install Mac OS on a laptop: instructions
Apple’s operating system is deservedly considered exemplary. And indeed it is. The combination of perfect looks and astounding performance has always made “Mac OS” much better brainchild of Bill Gates. And this is NOT discrimination at all, but a statement of fact. Operating systems from “Microsoft” always lagged behind “Makov” in terms of design and performance. One day Apple decided to switch to processors from “Intel”. From now on, install “Mac” on a regular PC is now possible. However, not all so simple. Installation “Mac” on a PC or laptop can result in a severe nervous breakdown, because not all hardware is supported “Poppy”. And getting it underneath it is very problematic. But we will try. So, before you is an instruction on the topic “Installing Mac OS on a laptop”.
The Chameleon shell is loaded first. She offers to choose a boot method: from a USB flash drive or from a hard drive. We choose the way to boot from a USB flash drive, but with the display of the installation log. This will make it easier to understand what kind of error occurred (if any) than in graphical mode. After loading the necessary kexts, the installer will load “Mac OS”. Now you need to format the section. We choose “disk utility”, desired section and formats it into “Mac OS X Magazine”. Click “Further” and the installation process itself begins.
If nothing has taken off anywhere, then after creating an account you will be thrown immediately to the desktop of the installed system. If the installation stopped for some reason, it is important to find out what the reason is. In most cases, the installation gets stuck due to the video card. Then you need to restart the laptop and, when choosing to boot from a flash drive, register the GraphicsEnabler-Yes key. After that, everything should go on as usual. Many people wonder how to install Mac OS on an Acer laptop with hybrid graphics. Answer: exactly the same. By disabling the discrete video adapter.
What to do if it failed to install
If you have studied thoroughly all the information on how to install Mac OS on a laptop, have studied all the errors and know how to fix it, but you still cannot install it, then this means that your laptop is categorically Not suitable for “Poppy”. Change back to “Windows”, from “Poppy” you will NOT succeed.
Which distributions not to use
Under no circumstances try to use distributions already prepared for installation on a PC. As a rule, they are very crooked, since they tried to make a universal system out of an individual system. And this does not happen. It is better to find out how to install Mac OS on a laptop yourself, and create a distribution kit for your machine “from scratch”. Stability will be much higher.
What is absolutely not necessary to do during use “Poppy” on laptop
What you don’t need to do is the cleaning process. “Mac OS” from unnecessary garbage using Special programs. Remember, “Mac”. Not “Windows”. It has a registry! And there is nothing to clutter up there. And programs like CleanMyMac can seriously damage your system. Further, DO NOT expect powerful software packages like ProLogic to run. They usually have serious problems running on “non-native Macs”. You can just kill the operating system. Well, we DO NOT install programs from unknown sources. Viruses under “Poppies”, of course, not enough, but they are very tough and can kill your system one or two.
If the installation went off without a hitch, then it’s time to start setting up the installed system. This is absolutely essential. If this is not done, then after a reboot the system simply will not start due to the lack of the necessary kexts. For settings “Poppy” it is required to launch the previously downloaded MultiBeast utility. It is she who will help us in setting up. How to install Mac OS on a Lenovo laptop and then customize it? Similar. Although since “Lenovo” there are some features that will be useful to know. Some models are equipped with Wi-Fi transmitters that DO NOT run under “Poppy” generally (BCM 4313). Only replacing the adapter will help here.
If we don’t “Lenovo”, continue setting. In MultiBeast, you need to select the drivers you need for our laptop. In addition, you need to select the DSDT list of that laptop from Apple, which is the most suitable in terms of characteristics to ours. Then it remains only to click on the Build button, then Install. After completing the installation of the necessary kexts in the system, you need to restart the computer in order for the changes to take effect.
Preparing a flash drive and distribution image
Since we will put the original “Mac” with small crutches, you first have to download the system image from the App Store. The most sane version at the moment is Mac OS X Yosemite. We will install it. As practice shows, the best option for creating bootable media is to create it from under the installed “Mac OS”. But not everyone has it at hand. This means that you need to put it on a virtual machine (at least) and make bootable media under it. Let’s pretend that “Mac OS” installed on the machine. What is the next step?
The next step is to download Special programs (crutches) that will help trick the system and make it believe that it is installed on an Apple computer. These programs are called UniBeast and MultiBeast. Next, it formats the USB flash drive in Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) format. Then we launch UniBeast and everywhere click the Continue and Agree buttons, Until we reach the choice of the OS version. Here we select our distribution and enable Laptop Support. After that, click Continue and Install. The image will be recorded within half an hour. Now let’s move on to the next step of the instruction “How to install Mac OS on a regular laptop”.
What are the risks when installing on a PC
There are a lot of risks, because this operating system is NOT intended for our wooden computers.
- First, some “vital” PC components may NOT work. It will turn them out or not. Unknown.
- Second, installation “Mac OS” on a PC or laptop is accompanied by an increased consumption of nerve cells, which can lead to equipment breakdown (the first time you will NOT install anything).
- Third, install “Mac” to a computer different from the original “Poppy”, is a punishable offense. But if It doesn’t scare you, then please.
And installing Mac OS on a laptop is always risky. Laptops are mostly problematic devices for “Poppy”. If on a PC you can somehow change the configuration to a compatible one, then this trick will not work with laptops. Full launch “Poppy” on laptops Only feasible with numerous “crutches”. And the more “crutches”, the more unstable the system will be. So, you still want to try installing “Mac” on a laptop or PC? Then let’s continue.
What to read to familiarize yourself with the principles of installation and configuration
There are also many resources on which it is detailed how to install Mac OS on a laptop. It also describes how to solve the most common mistakes. Finding these resources is easy. Some craftsmen can even customize DSDT and you keksts. Of course, for a fee. But it’s better to figure out the installation and configuration process yourself. over, it’s not that difficult.
How to install mac OS on a regular pc
Thank you for your interesting question! Our IT outsourcing specialists will be happy to tell you about the peculiarities of the Mac OS operating system and how it can be installed on a regular PC.
Historically, most people who would like to work with the operating system Mac OS X are subject to a number of myths both in the operating system itself and in the Macintosh itself. Before talking directly about the installation, dispel the most common myths.
Mac OS X can only be installed on computers with compatible processors and chipsets from Intel and a video card from NVidia, and most of the peripherals will not work.
Yes, it was like that once. But, progress. The thing is unstable in a good way. and more drivers are constantly being released, the amount of hardware compatible with Mac OS X is growing continuously. Now Mac OS X can be easily installed on a computer whose processor only supports SSE2 (preferably SSE3), for example, AMD or Intel. Almost all new video cards support various types of hardware acceleration (GL, Quartz Extreme, Quartz 2d, Core Image, 2). That is, I think it is clear that too overwhelming requirements will NOT be imposed on your computer.
Mac OS X is very difficult to install
In fact, everything is somewhat different. Installing Mac OS X is NOT more difficult than Windows if you choose the right texts and fixes.
Mac OS X will NOT be able to function on the same physical disk as Windows.
As much as he can. There are 2 options:
– Windows chain0 bootloader
– Acronis OS Selector
So let’s get down to business.
First, you need to check your computer for compliance with Mac OS X requirements.
The minimum requirement is a processor that supports SSE2. This case can be determined using the CPU-Z program. It can be easily downloaded from the web.
RAM must be at least 256 MB and the more the better.
The video card must be Not very old. AGP or PCI-E starting from GF4
Then we “check” ourselves.
You must clearly understand what and why you are going to do.
Prepare Your First Mac OS X Installation To Take 4-6 Hours Of Your Time.
Many people recommend downloading and burning Hiren’s Boot CD. If there are partitions in NTFS format on the same disk where you are going to install Mac OS, then it will be better if you convert them to FAT32, since an error may slip during the creation of the partition and the file system will become unreadable. There is an alternative option. to transfer data to another physical disk or even to a flash drive.
In general, print this text before installation to make sure you don’t forget anything.
Download the image of the installation disk.
First of all, you need to decide on the version of Mac OS X: at the moment, the latest is 10.5. Since our task is to become familiar with the system, it is advisable to install version 10.4.6 or 10.4.7, since they are installed with less difficulty. Then you can update the system with combo-update. Then go to rutracker.Org and write something like this in the search bar: Mac OS X 10.4.6. Find the image of the installation disk.
If the file is in ISO format, it can be easily burned to disc, but if it is in DMG format, you will also have to download the DMG2ISO program and convert the file to ISO.
Writing the image to disk
To create a bootable disc, you will need a blank disc and Nero or Alcohol 120%. We think you can handle the recording process yourself. After recording, if you open the disc on a Windows computer and see that it is empty or contains only a couple of small documents, do not be alarmed, this is how it should be.
We insert the disk into the drive and reboot, of course, before that, we put the boot from the optical drive in the BIOS as a priority. When you see a message about starting installation from disk, press F8, or wait a couple of seconds and enter the “-v” option. If you do not, the graphical installation will start. Of course, this is beautiful, but we need text mode, since only in it can we see installation errors.
There are two most common mistakes:
“System config file ‘/com.Apple.Boot.Plist’ not found”. the Mac OS X distribution turned out to be “crooked” and you will have to download another one;
“Still waiting for root device”. probably there is a problem with the hardware, possibly incompatibility.
If the preloading went smoothly, you will see a blue display with a cursor in front of you. You will be prompted to select a language. We choose which one you like from the proposed ones. Click on the arrow. a menu appears on top. In it, select Utilities. The disk utility formats the partition in which we will install the operating system, of course, in the Mac OS Extended journaled format.
It sometimes happens that Disk Utility cannot format or mount a partition. It doesn’t matter. it can be done with an acronym. How exactly? Select manual partitioning mode in Acronis Disk Director Suite, create a FAT32 partition. Next, in the context menu of the section, change the section type to 0xAFh (Shag OS Swap). Akronis will worry that all data will be destroyed. We calm him down, since we already have no data there. Applying and rebooting.
After successful formatting, click “continue”. A license agreement will appear, after which we select the section prepared earlier for installation. We press “continue”. Click on “settings” (Customize) and select the components to install. Particular attention should be paid to Kekst and patches, namely, you only need to install the patches that are needed specifically for your system. You don’t need anything extra. Under no circumstances are we installing patches for SSE2 and SSE3 at the same time. You only need one that suits your processor. We press “continue”. Preparing and checking the disc begins. After the installation is complete, the computer will automatically restart.
Completing the installation.
After reboot There are two possible outcomes. good and bad. If good, the system will boot normally (especially if you are using Acronis OS Selector). In the worst case, you will see a b0 error message. In this case, we boot from Hiren’s boot CD and use Acronis Disk Director to make the partition with the freshly installed operating system active. Reboot.
The system will boot up and prompt you to enter various information. dutifully enter everything except the Mac ID, leave it blank, otherwise the system may start to weigh.
If you did everything correctly, the desktop will load. Hooray!
The file we downloaded from the App Store is not an ISO image. This is a complete installation wizard with its own set of utilities. For this reason, the system places it in the programs folder and not in the downloads. From there we will record it on external media.
- We return to the “Utilities” folder and launch the “Terminal”.
- We enter the following command to write on behalf of the system administrator:
sudo / Applications / Install \ macOS \ High \ Sierra.App/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia.volume / Volumes / Kingstone
- Enter your password. The symbols will not be displayed. Finishing dialing by pressing Enter.
- The system will prompt confirmation to clean up the selected volume. Enter “Y” and press the enter key.
- Before copying data, the system erases the USB flash drive.
- The recording ends with the appearance of information messages in the creation of a bootable media and transferring the necessary data installer to it.
Older OS versions
If you want to install a different, older version of the operating system, you can also find them in the App Store. El Capitan, Yosemite or Mountain Lion are listed in the buy section, provided they have been used before. This is due to the licensing policy of the company. The OS shown in the screenshot are considered purchased, and the subsequent ones are rented by the user from Apple.
As you can see, installing the Apple operating system is straightforward. No third-party software or Special Knowledge is required to create bootable media, and ready-made commands can be found on the technical support site.
After connecting the media to the USB port, we reboot. Mac computers do not use the familiar BIOS, so there is NO additional configuration required.
- Our task is to prevent the computer from booting from the SSD and will launch the training volume selection menu. Therefore, immediately upon reboot, hold down the “Option” key. We hold it until the reading appears in the screenshot of the dialogue. The Windows volume will be present if it is installed on a Boot Camp partition. Here you need to translate the indicated arrow symbol from Macintosh HD to the installer icon.
- Select the language in which the menu and dialogs will be displayed.
- For a “clean” installation, we need to open the disk utility.
- We select the volume on which we are going to install the OS and erase the data. The actions are similar to what we did when formatting the flash drive.
- Close the disk utility and select the Checked item.
- The OS installation wizard starts.
- Selecting a Macintosh HD Volume.
- Fill in the fields to log in with your Apple ID details.
- At this stage, you can transfer the information from the backup copy, if any. For a “clean” installation, select the specified item.
How to install macOS from a USB stick
Apple’s policy of installing its own operating system on its branded computers makes them extremely stable. I bought a MacBook and regularly updates the OS, you may NEVER be faced with the need to reinstall it. If the Internet is available, the system can be easily reinstalled over the network. If circumstances require you to install macOS from a USB flash drive, you need to do it correctly.
Formatting in macOS is done with Disk Utility. You can find it by opening Launchpad in the Others folder or by using the Finder. Let’s choose the second option as it is more convenient. A flash drive, traditionally for modern operating systems, should be at least 8 GB.
- Open Finder and select “Programs” in the navigation area. Open the folder marked in the screenshot.
- We select the specified utility.
- We are looking for external drives. We select the name of the flash drive specified by the manufacturer, highlighting it. The “Erase” button is activated in the top control menu. Click on it to open the next dialog.
- The system will automatically offer us the format and layout of the sections. They must match the ones shown in the screenshot. To clear and format the USB flash drive with the selected parameters, press the marked button.
Now there is zero information left on the external medium and you can write the distribution kit to it.
Creating a bootable USB stick
To create an installation disc on a MacBook, just use the terminal. Macos works great with Windows FS and does not require the installation of Transmac analogues. NTFS format out of the box is supported in read mode, while FAT32 and exFAT are fully supported.
You will have to format the flash drive if any Linux FS is used on it, for example, ext3. Before implementation, the removable disk must in any case be cleaned of the information available on it.
Since 2013, Apple has stopped selling the operating system to users. By purchasing any Mac, be it a laptop or a mini version, you get macOS for rent and are provided with free updates for the entire life of the device.
- On the main page, on the right side, under the account parameters, there is a link by which you can go to the site with the current OS. The latest version is currently 10.3 High Sierra.
- Click on the “Download” button. The distribution “weighs” more than 5 GB, so the time it takes to receive it will depend on the speed of the connection used.
- When the download is finished, the installer will automatically start.
- We don’t need it at the moment. Since we are going to create an offline bootable media, we need to close it. Click on the program window to display the controls on the top panel. We select the Marked item. A similar operation can be done with the keyboard shortcut ⌘Q. On macOS, this is the default shortcut to close any active window.
For more details on the entire system installation process, see the video below.
How to install Mac os on a laptop
Very often there is such a situation when we lack one operating system installed on our PC. To solve this problem, many users install two operating systems on their PC at once. usually Windows XP and Windows 7, because it is very convenient and makes it much easier for us to work on a PC in case of any unforeseen situations. And a variety of situations can arise, for example, if one OS “covered herself” and stopped loading, then we can boot from another operating system, or one OS has become infected with viruses, then from another (backup) system we can safely boot, cure our computer or recover. However, not all users know how to install two operating systems on one computer, especially for beginners or dummies. Therefore, in this article, we will try to understand this issue.
How to install two operating systems on one PC
Usually when we buy a computer, there is one hard drive inside the PC or laptop, and it is divided mainly into two logical ones. this is a drive (C :), on which the operating system (Windows XP or 7) is already installed and a drive (D 🙂 where we store our files: movies, photos, music, etc.
So, we cannot install the second system on disk (D :), since it will be formatted and all your important data will be deleted. And the (C 🙂 disk already has an operating system, and although you can install two systems on one partition, I do NOT recommend you. Nothing good will come of this!
In the end, there is only one option. to create another logical partition on your hard drive. Here he is the answer to the question of how to install two operating systems. You just need to create an additional partition for another operating system. And you can create an additional partition on a hard drive using Special programs for working with hard drives, for example Paragon Partition Manager and others.
So, what you need to have to install two operating systems on one computer. First, you must have installation (boot) disks with operating systems for installation on a PC, and secondly, at least three partitions on your hard drive.
Let me tell you in practice.
After creating another partition, you should have three logical drives. this is the drive (C :), (D :), and (E :). On disk (C 🙂 we Install Windows XP, on (E :). Windows 7, and on disk (D 🙂 you will store all the necessary files (movies, photos, music, etc.). In this way, you can install two operating systems on your computer and go into any of them.
If you want to install two systems, Windows 7 and XP, then you need to install them as they are released. The ideal way to install two operating systems on one computer is to follow the installation sequence. You must first install the older one. Windows XP, and then the younger one. Windows 7. In a word, install XP first, and then Windows 7.
And it’s better not to break this installation sequence. Now I’ll explain why.
The boot manager in Windows 7 knows how to boot all previously released Windows and becomes the boot manager for all previously installed operating systems, in our case Windows XP. In this case, before loading, a menu for choosing any of the Windows appears. And loading occurs without problems from the selected operating system.
Another case, when you installed Windows XP after Windows 7, the XP bootloader will simply overwrite the bootloader “sevens”, since he DOES NOT know anything about it, and you will only boot one operating system. this is Windows XP. This is why you should not break the installation sequence.
But what if you already have Windows 7 installed on your PC and you want to install Windows XP as well? In this case, instead of “sevens” Install XP on disk (C :), and on another disk Install Windows 7, so as not to violate the sequence of operating systems seniority. However, it is not very convenient and time-consuming.
In such cases, it makes sense to use another installation method. you can use the EasyBCD 2.0.2 program, which uses a standard bootloader when working, it is free and can be easily removed without consequences. You can download it on the official website. The program requires the Net Framework 2.0 package installed, if not, download.
So, we already have Windows 7 installed and after that we Install Windows XP as the second one. After that, we, in fact, will stop loading Windows 7. Next, we Install the EasyBCD 2.0.2 program and run it.
View Settings. the initial window of the program. The EasyBCD 2.0.2 program should immediately find the Windows XP operating system, go ahead.
Edit Boot Menu. selection of operating systems boot, also shows one Windows XP.
Add and Entry in the right part of the window, select the Windows Vista / 7 drop-down menu and click the Add Entry button and add the Windows 7 operating system to the Edit Boot Menu.
The initial View Settings window now has two operating systems.
Edit Boot Menu, Windows 7 appears here too.
In the Edit Boot Menu. the choice of loading operating systems, by default Windows XP is loaded first, the second will now boot Windows 7 if we wish, the boot order and the default selection time of 30 seconds can be changed.
We just have to go to the Bootloader Setup tab and in the MBR Configuration Options item will check the box as shown in the figure. on the Install the Windows Vista / 7 bootloader to the MBR item. Next, click on the Write MBR button, by this we enter the information into the MBR boot record in that the partition with Windows 7 will be loaded by default.
If we are with you the most successful program EasyBCD 2.0.2, then the menu for selecting operating systems will remain and Windows 7 will be loaded first by default.
In the Edit Boot Menu, you can, if you wish, uninstall Windows XP and at boot, it will NOT be in the choice of operating systems, but I advise you not to experiment with Windows 7.
Installing Windows XP after Windows 7 on one computer should be successful. Now we have two operating systems in the Windows Boot Manager. Windows XP and Windows 7. The Previous version of Windows indicated in the figure is our Windows XP OS.
How to install Mac OS X on a PC?
My guess is that the majority of people who want to switch to Mac are hampered by the myths in the hackintosh. the computer on which the Mac OS is installed. Before proceeding directly to the description of installing Mac OS X on a PC, I will try to dispel some of the myths:
Mac OS X will only install on compatible processors and chipsets from intel, video cards only from NVidia. Most of the periphery will not work.
Once this was true, but progress does not stand alone in place, more and more patches and drivers are released, the amount of hardware compatible with Mac OS X is growing every day. Now Mac OS can easily be installed on a computer with a processor, at least it will support SSE2, but preferably SSE3, for example, AMD or Intel. Many modern video cards support hardware acceleration, namely Quartz Extreme, Quartz 2d, Core Image, GL. I think now you understand that nothing supernatural is required from your computer.
Mac OS X installation is difficult.
In fact, and not more difficult than installing Windows XP, I think it’s even easier if you choose the right kexts and fixes.
Mac OS X will NOT be able to “live” on the same physical disk with Windows.
Can! There are 2 options:
– Windows bootloader chain0 (for example, this is on my computer)
– Acronis OS Selector
So let’s get down to business.
First you need to check your computer for compliance with Mac OS X requirements.
The absolute minimum is a processor that supports SSE2. This can be determined by the program CPU-Z (free download CPU-Z (1.97 Mb)).
Minimum random access memory (RAM) 256 MB, of course, the more the better.
Not quite old video card for AGP or PCI-E, starting from GF4.
Then check yourself:
You must understand the “what” and “why” you are doing.
Your first installation will be the longest, it may take 4-6 hours.
Going further when aligning your PC with Mac OS X requirements.
Many people advise to download and burn to Hiren’s Boot CD. If there are NTFS partitions on the same physical disk where you are going to install Mac OS, then it is better to convert them to FAT32 (We work with a hard disk without a pre-installed OS), because when creating a new partition, an error may occur, and the file system will become unreadable. but there is another, easier way. to transfer your data to another physical disk or flash drive.
For ease of installation, I advise you to print this text so that at any time you can see what to do next.
Having finished with the preparation, we proceed to the second step.
Download the installation disk image.
The first step is to decide which version of Mac OS X we need: the latest at the moment is 10.5. Since our task is to get acquainted with the system, I advise you to install versions 10.4.6 or 10.4.7, because. They are usually installed without much problem. And then you can already update with combo-update. But you can try OS X 10.5 too. Next, go to torrents.Ru and write something like this in the search form:
If the downloaded file is in ISO format, then you can safely burn it to disk, and if in DMG format, you will also have to download the DMG2ISO application (download DMG2ISO (12.29 Kb)) and convert the downloaded file to an ISO image.
Burning an image to disk.
You need a DVDR or DVDR disc. You can write through Nero or Alcohol 120%. I think you can handle the recording process on your own. After burning a disk with Windows, several documents of about 150 KB in size will be “visible” on the disk, or maybe nothing at all “it is seen”, it should be.
We insert the disc you just burned into the drive and restart the computer. While the message about the start of installation from disk appears on the monitor, press F8 or wait a few seconds and enter the “-v” parameter (without quotes). If you press any other key or continue the installation without this action, then instead of the text mode, the graphic will turn on. this is beautiful, but you can only find out about errors in text mode.
There are two most common mistakes:
“System config file ‘/com.Apple.Boot.Plist’ not found”. there is a problem with the Mac OS X distribution (you will have to download another one)
“Still waiting for root device”. most likely, there is a problem with the hardware, perhaps some kind of incompatibility.
If the initial boot went without problems, then a blue monitor (BSOD) with a waiting cursor will open in front of you. Next, you will be prompted to select a language. We choose Russian (or English, if not). Click on the arrow, after which a menu will appear at the top, in it select Utilities. Disk Utility and formats the partition in which we are going to install Mac OS X into Mac OS Extended journaled format.
Sometimes it happens that Disk Utility cannot format this partition to HFS or mount it, then this can be corrected with an acronym. To do this, select the manual mode for changing partitions in Acronis Disk Director Suite and create a partition in FAT32 format. Next, in its context menu, select the item to change the partition type and set the value to 0xAFh (Shag OS Swap). Akronis, of course, will swear that all data on this section may be lost and become unreadable, but we have nothing there anyway. 🙂 Apply the changes and reboot.
After the disk has been successfully formatted, click Continue, read and accept the license agreement, select the partition you prepared for installation. Then click Continue. Then click on the settings (Customize) and select the components that you need to install. Special attention to patches and Kekst: you only need to install the patches that are necessary specifically for your system, and nothing more. DO NOT install patches for SSE2 and SSE3 at the same time! Installing only the one that matches your processor. Click Continue. Then preparation for installation and disk check will take place. The installation will complete by restarting the computer.
Completing the installation.
After restarting your computer, there are two options:
1. Successful system boot (especially if you use Acronis OS Selector)
2. B0 error. We boot from Hiren’s boot CD and use Acronis Disk Director to make the Mac OS X partition active. Reboot.
The system boots safely, and you will be prompted to enter this or that information, we enter. Exception. Mac ID. you need to leave it blank (perhaps this will provoke a hang)
P.S. The layout is switched with the Command Space keys (ALT Space)
If everything is done correctly, the desktop is loaded. Hooray! Works!
