SATA Boot Priority
The motherboard usually has 4 connectors for connecting SATA drives. IDE is an old interface for connecting a hard drive. Provides a connection speed of 133 MB / s. Now it is encountered less and less, I think in this article it makes no special sense to consider it

So, in a modern system unit, the drive and hard drive must be connected via the SATA interface. For example, in my example, I decided to connect a laptop hard drive instead of a CD-ROM.

For users who do not want to “fiddle” with dragging and dropping drives back and forth, or, for example, want to get a portable and convenient external drive (from the remaining old laptop drive). there are special devices on the market. “boxes” (BOX).
What he really is? Small container, slightly larger than the hard drive itself. It usually has 1-2 USB ports for connecting to PC (or laptop) ports. The box can be opened: the HDD is inserted inside and fixed there. Some models, by the way, are equipped with a power supply.

First, you should completely de-energize the laptop and wait until the operating system is completely shut down. It is advisable that the system be turned off not in an emergency way, but through the shutdown button in the “start” menu. Next, open the battery cell, take it out and put it aside. Now we have to unscrew all the screws that secure the main cover of the bottom panel of the device and, when finished, remove this cover.
This will open a view of all installed hard drives in the laptop (one or two). They have the usual look of a stationary HDD, but in a small case. To remove it, unscrew all the screws on the top cover and on it. If everything is done, then we next disconnect the connected cables and carefully, with a sense of proportion, remove the internal board from it.
Let’s move on to connecting the hard drive through the motherboard. Having previously prepared an additional SATA cable, we connect it with one end to the hard drive, and the other end to the outlet in the HDD slot in the laptop.
