My Spectrum App on Apple TV will often ask for a logon, even when we just turned it on. It doesn’t recognize my previous password and I can’t sign in automatically. Quite the pain.

How to force an app to quit

  1. On theSiri Remote, press the TV button Spectrum Repeated Signin - Apple Community (3) twice quickly.Windows representing each of the open apps appear in a row on the screen.
  2. In app-switching view, navigate left-right to any open app in the center of the screen, then do:• Force the highlighted app to quit:Swipe up on the clickpad or touch surface.

  1. Verify that you connect through Spectrum Internet. Their app on TV/streaming devices may not authenticate through other internet providers.
  2. Update your Apple TV system software to the current version, if not done already. How to update your Apple TV - Apple Support
  3. Try this for any misbehaving app:
    1. Force-quit the app, then relaunch and try again.
    2. If the issue persists, force-quit the app, restart the device, then relaunch and try again.
    3. If the issue still persists, delete the app, re-download and try again.
    4. If the issue still persists after that, then the app developer/publisher should be contacted (again) for further assistance.

Got a competent person from Spectrum to listen to my problem. He understood my problem and saw quickly that their Security had flagged my account for ‘suspicious’ activity. They were requiring I change my password, so I was getting these interruptions to get me to change the password.

if I hadn’t got the tech help, I would never have known there was a need to change my password.

we changed the password, then problem gone.

Tech was savvy enough to create an alert for their customer service team to figure out how to inform subscribers they need to do this.

thanks for your help. not clear to me how Spectrum-Apple will get this fix done.

The Spectrum seem to be unaware of this problem. On their site the ask me to use familiar sites or email from previous interactions on other apps. But my ID AND password works only as a new login. The system isn’t storing my info, because next time I start Apple TV and attempt to use Spectrum, I am asked to login once again.

The latest from Spectrum is they don’t have a way to keep subscribers logged on when using Apple TV. So it’s not a problem they can solve.

no suggestion that I update the App.

Seems it’s related to Apple’s latest security update for ALL devices.

Seems to have worked. Time will tell, but I learned to Reload the offending App in the process.

Unfortunately after 10 minutes it starting an extended buffering, then the login reappears.

signing in automatically won’t work cause it doesn’t recall my Spectrum login anymore…

definitely a pain.
