McDonald's have finally answered the age old question that condiment lovers have been struggling with for years: why do they offer mayonnaise in their McChicken Burger, but not in a sauce sachet?
Because while ketchup is great and the barbecue sauce tangy, nothing quite compares to the delight of dunking your chips into mayo (sometimes mixed with ketchup). Right? RIGHT?
The internet is littered with people asking the same question, and petitioning for McDonald's to introduce the condiment to their franchises, with one citing, "If Wetherspoons, Burger King and literally every single other place that serves fries can do it, surely McDonald's can too?"
When we spoke to the fast food chain about the lack of mayonnaise on their menu, they said not enough customers wanted the sauce to make it worthwhile.
A spokesperson commented, "What we offer in our restaurants is based on customer demand. We don’t currently have any plans for mayonnaise to be made available."
WHAT? NO CUSTOMER DEMAND? ARE YOU JOKING? BLASPHEMY.
I, as one customer, definitely demand enough to make it worthwhile.
That being said, mayonnaise fans have found a savvy way around the drought at McDonald's, by asking employees to fill a drink lid with the sauce from the McChicken Burger behind the counter. If they're lucky and polite, it apparently happens.
Still, who's up for making this happen?
