Leftover Brisket Recipes

How do You Store Leftover Brisket in the Fridge

First off you want to keep it moist and the best way to do that is with airtight containers and liquid. If you made it in the oven or as a pressure cooker brisket you have lots of juices to work with, don’t throw those out! Keep your pieces large when storing, add broth to hit about halfway up your piece of meat and seal with the air sucked out.

When you are ready to use then you can dice it up before reheating to speed up the process and add it into your next dish. Really you can use any of our Leftover Tri Tip Recipes too since the texture is quite the same.

How to Reheat Brisket

This is important to understand if you aren’t going to add it into something that is warm to reheat it that way. If you wanted to make brisket tacos you want it hot inside your tortillas, cheese, cabbage and hot or bbq sauce. You can do this in the oven, on the stovetop or even in your air fryer!

The key is to keep it really moist with some broth. You can do this under 30 minutes easily so once it is heated you can throw it into some brisket sandwiches or shred brisket and load it on top of some mashed potatoes with barbecue sauce.

How to reheat brisket in the microwave

  • This isn’t recommended this or leftover corned beef recipes but if it is your only source of heat it can be done.
    • Put into a microwave safe bowl with your liquid and a lose lid on the top.
    • Set to 20% power and heat in 1 minute intervals just until warmed trying not to heat too long to dry it out.

Reheating brisket in the oven

Whether you originally had a smoked flat brisket or made one in the oven you would follow the same steps to warm it again.

  • Preheat oven to 325 F. to begin with
    • Place meat on baking sheet covered in foil, fold up sides of aluminum and pour some broth inside your “bowl”
    • Fold all the way over so meat can steam inside foil.
    • Bake for 20 minutes, then check temperature, may take up to 30 minutes to warm thru to the center.

Reheat brisket in air fryer

  • Preheat machine to 300 F for 5 minutes.
    • Follow same instructions as in your oven with the foil so it stays moist and tender.

You could do the same thing with the foil as directed on a grill or to reheat smoked brisket but with the time it would take to preheat it would be faster to just use your oven.

For this list I am speaking specifically about beef that has not been marinated. Meaning I would add corned beef into other options which I will share below.

What to Make with Leftover Brisket

Below we have share a Instant Pot beef and noodles recipe. You can skip the first step of sautéing since the meat is already cooked. Then add some cream of mushroom soup, noodles and sour cream. It becomes a sort of quick beef stroganoff casserole of sorts but with brisket.

  • For a lower calorie option without the creams you could cook some bell peppers first and then throw in a cup of two of your meat. Toss, heat another minute and you’ll have some fast air fryer fajitas of sorts.
  • Or throw your diced pieces into the oven to make bite size beef fajita cups.
  • You could use it in our Korean oxtail soup instead of that meat.
  • Instead of ground beef make brisket chili with these other 4 ingredients like this.
  • Using leftover chicken breast is great but beef is better inside our Instant Pot fried rice y’all.

Make your baked beans heartier with the leftover beef brisket you have left! Want a really quick option? This is how to make mac and cheese in the microwave. Then dice your leftovers up really small and throw those in. Fold in so everything is coated and cheesy for y’all to enjoy together.

Leftover Beef Brisket Recipes

Ok now let’s talk about “the other” for a minute here. I mean you could easily use any of the options above. This cut does have a distinct flavor to it already so typically you don’t add much seasonings at all. If you make our Ninja Foodi corned beef every year like we do you likely have a bit left over.

Especially if you only make this once a year it is like gold, like for real. Every once and a while if I find it on sale I’ll save a few. That way we can make Instant Pot frozen corned beef in mid June. It’s so good and I almost always have enough for lunch the next day.

  • What you would normally think of would be corned beef hash, we pair this with a side of fried cabbage on the side for a complete second meal.
  • You can throw it into diced potatoes in the morning though for breakfast hash with just a bit of sour cream for an easy breakfast.
  • We have made leftover corned beef soup that is sort of like chowder and great with a roll on the side.

Below you can find our brisket mac and cheese which is a fave amongst the kids for sure.

Use refrigerated pizza dough with your leftover meat to make brisket pizza with red onions for lunch or dinner. I’ve been guilty of just snacking on it as a high protein snack the next day too though. 😉
