How To Ski Moguls With Less Fatigue | Introduction (2024)

Learning how to ski more efficiently with less fatigue is important to your on-snow enjoyment, balance, control, safety and skiing longevity – particularly if your preference is to ski mogul terrain.

Skiing is not a muscle sport. Skiing efficiently with less fatigue is a ballet of balanced, efficient, smooth, patient and flowing movements. It is characterized by an absence of forced turns and abrupt and/or twisting movements. From a recreational skiing perspective the less you move, and the slower you move whatever you do move, the better and more efficiently you will ski. Less is more. Fewer, slower and more efficient movements will result in less fatigue.

Efficient skiers will use a stance that enables their skeleton to support their body weight rather than using their quadricep muscles to hold them upright. Quiet movements will facilitate staying in balance rather than having to divert energy to fighting to get back in balance.

In this section of the Mogul Skiing Technique Learning Center we will highlight specific movement patterns and skiing techniques you can use to increase your skiing efficiency and minimize or eliminate fatigue – particularly when skiing bumps or powder.
