How Much Caffeine Is REALLY in Coffee Ice Cream? (2024)

In the classic Coffee Coffee BuzzBuzzBuzz, there is 45 mg caffeine per ½ cup serving, and 180 mg per pint. So if you down the whole thing in one go, you'll have the equivalent of a little more than two cups of java.

Talenti

Talenti

So many people have asked this question that Talenti has it in the FAQ section of its website. Both the Coffee Chocolate Chip and Coffee Toffee gelatos have roughly 5 to 8 mg of caffeine per ½ cup serving. That is the lowest amount of caffeine in any of the ice creams we researched. It's slightly higher than a cup of decaf, which, spoiler alert, actually has 4.3 mg to 6.9 mg of caffeine.

Considering an after-dinner latte with one shot of espresso has 63 mg of caffeine, you might as well just treat yourself to a dish of ice cream instead. For coffee flavor with minimal buzz, go for Talenti or Häagen-Dazs. For the stronger stuff, Ben & Jerry's. Are we saying you could have this in the morning instead of coffee? Well, we're not not saying it.

Or you could have coffee AND ice cream:
