First look at the grown-up Outnumbered kids ahead of highly-anticipated reunion (2024)

There are only months to go until the cast of Outnumbered are finally reuniting for an upcoming TV event that’s left fans of the BBC sitcom excited beyond belief.

Now, viewers have been treated to an early look at the kids in the famous family all grown up… and it’s still going to take some getting used to for us.

It’s been eight years since the last Christmas special aired, and a whopping 10 since the final episode of the programme’s fifth series was released, having originally aired from 2007 to 2014.

Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez – who played Jake, Ben and Karen Brockman respectively – are now 28, 24 and 23 years old, after growing up in front of the nation’s eyes.

In a new clip released by Comic Relief on YouTube for their Rewind series, the on-screen siblings reminisced about their time on the hilarious show, before cracking up over a clip from a previous special.

They each look worlds apart from their characters on the BBC comedy series, sporting different hairstyles and of course, being way taller than their younger selves.

During their catch-up, Ramona revealed that she actually watches Outnumbered on occasion, saying: ‘At first it was a bit weird, but now I think I sort of… enjoy seeing you guys a lot. That’s my favourite bit, always.’

Daniel admitted: ‘I just don’t know if I’m there yet. I maybe need a couple more years before I can confidently sit there and watch seven-year-old me.’

The trio then watched some footage from the 2009 Red Nose Day episode, leaving Daniel cringing as he was forced to watch himself acting opposite Hugh Dennis, who plays his on-screen dad Pete Brockman.

Speaking more about his memories of being a part of the Comic Relief specials, Daniel recalled ‘all the fun we had on set, joking around and working with celebrities like Andy Murray, Frank Lampard and Christine Lampard’.

Ramona added how ‘comforting’ she finds to watch Outnumbered nowadays, and how she loves watching her on-screen parents Hugh and Claire Skinner, who became a real-life couple after the show ended.

‘They were always joking around on set and creating such a relaxed and fun environment for us and the crew during filming,’ she shared.

Tyger emphasised how ‘iconic’ Outnumbered was, and how it ‘resonated with so many people because the Brockmans were the quintessential British family’.

‘Filming the Comic Relief specials was always a unique experience, where we would come together after months of filming. I remember being 10 years old and thinking, “Wow, I get to be a part of something really special,”’ he recalled.

While there is still some time to go until the Christmas special, fans have found out some details about what they can expect, including speculation that the Brockmans’ house is set to undergo a major change.

What’s more, the family’s household is also going to be very different, with Hugh revealing on Good Morning Britain: ‘It’s going to be strange isn’t it because I don’t think we live together anymore as a family.

‘There’s lots of different stuff to reflect and one of the great things about the show was to reflect life as it actually was.’
