Have you ever mixed meat with chocolate, Katie?

I have to admit that, lately, I’ve been let down by your posts. I check back to your site every Monday and Thursday, hoping to see a new recipe, or at least a helpful tutorial. Many of your newer posts are just compilations of older recipes. And the coconut butter tutorial is something that you had already written. I understand that it takes time to keep developing new recipes, but the compilation posts are very disappointing.
I am still a big fan of your blog. I have read it for several years now, and I appreciate the recipes very much, as most of the ones I’ve tried have turned out spectacular. But I genuinely miss the quality content. A post like “Fudge Babies Update” or “9 Recipes to Make Right Now” isn’t really the same as seeing a recipe.
Since I’ve posed a problem, my solution is to perhaps write one good post a week instead of trying to squeeze in two. It is still your blog, and you may do whatever you choose, but this is just a suggestion.
I hope this comment does not come off as rude because that is not at all my intention. I hope you have a great weekend.

From what I’ve noticed in the past, when the posts aren’t really containing much “Katie,” or there’s a longer gap in between, or they’re a lot of compilations, it means something’s happening in her life. Such as when she was moving to New York, but then settled in DC, or when she’s traveling for a while, or doing specials in other places like television. So it makes me wonder if something like that is happening right now, or if maybe she’s been sick, but is still wanting to get posts out.

Her post before this one was a new recipe, the post before the coconut butter was a new recipe. It looks like she already posts new recipes on average more than what your “solution” proposed so your comment makes no sense.

The email sign-up ad at the top claims you get “two new recipes every week”. So far I have been receiving zero or one new recipe a week, respectively, because the other email contains a compilation or repost. And the weekly recipe that I do receive is half the time an adaptation from an older one. This pans out to getting 1 “variation” recipe a week, and it pales in comparison to the days when two new recipes were posted. My proposed solution is intended to give Katie more time to come up with her wonderful recipes, rather than feel like she absolutely has to post something twice a week, no matter what it is. I am afraid that you have misunderstood me.
The reason I am standing firm by my argument is because I love this blog and I quite like Katie, too, and I would like it to be as productive as possible.

Katie: While I realize everyone is entitled to their opinion (no matter how rudely stated) I hope you do not listen to the commenter above mine because I for one like the emails as they are and would be sad to only get one a week. I also like the round ups because I’ve only been following you for a year and don’t remember a lot of the older ones, like many others of your readers I would suspect. I found you about a year ago on Pinterest and have been a fan ever since.

For the record, I agree with you and think you voiced your comment with respect and intelligence. I get that it’s hard to always have a new recipes, but compilations and “here’s what people are clicking now” often seems like a cop out and an easy way to get page views. Again, I know Katie is busy, but it is also her job so we’re allowed to voice our opinions. One new recipe a week would be great, and even one new recipe and one round-up. But the promise of two “new” recipe posts a week is a bit misleading.

Hmmm same person writing under a different name?
Just because it’s her job, if you’re not paying anything then no you don’t have a right to complain. You only have a right to unsubscribe or not read her blog anymore. But don’t ruin the experience for those of us who do like the way things are currently.

      • Natasha @ Thoughts of Tradition says

Nobody is ruining anything. I gave my honest feedback, which I probably do have a right to, seeing as there is a comment section, and didn’t expect this much criticism for it. And I am amazed that you are accusing me of replying to my own comment under a different name. You may ask Katie to check which locations the comments are coming from. I am certain this misunderstanding shall be cleared up.

All of these recipes look amazing! I need to try the sticky sesame cauliflower very soon, as well as the black bean brownies and cauliflower pizza crust! I did make banana ice cream and your vegan chocolate cake a few months ago. SUCH big hits among my friends–we all loved them!
