Anyone Work At Pizza Hut (or Use To)? What Happened To My Pizza?
.
Besides wanting to know, what it is that they are spraying on the crust of pizzas out of a spray can (really, I want to know!), I have another issue ...
After an e-mail complaint, manager phoning me at home and offering me 20% off my pizza (and really not acknowledging my issue), to informing customer service by phone (for another follow-up), no one wants my photos!
Well, time to ask RFD about it!
What happened to my pizza? After bringing it home, many of the slices were pealing from itself, only to reveal pretty much nothing underneath. Was it rushed? Was it old? Eating it, I didn't find it very saucy as well (like a fresh pizza from other locations).

Looks like the dough was too dry. Pretty common mistake I would say...

Probably they took 2 dough and tried to form 1 without mixing them together well. Kinda makes an invisible link separating the two dough and when cooked you see the split

EXACT same issues with the King street location that serves King and Dufferin. We had a $60 AFTER the $5 per pizza deal, order that was pure and utter crap. The cinnamon pull apart thing was not even cooked in the middle. Seriously a globby ball of uncooked dough past the first outside layer. The pizzas were a runny mess of uncooked dough and sauce that looked like it was applied via aerial bombardment. Had no choice but to bin the whole inedible works. Sent the email. 2 weeks later get a call from the manager who honestly seemed super annoyed she was talking to me. She promised "to make things right" by giving us a $40 credit "attached to your number". Never got the credit. Emailed corporate gain, and not a single peep from them. So, my family who is a bi weekly pizza delivery family have not ordered anything from Pizza Hut again.

Poor execution. Looks like they folded the dough over itself without making it uniform, creating a seam or "layer" to pull apart.

Don't know if this is "har har" or not but, in years upon years of ordering from Pizza Hut (other locations), I've never had a separated pizza like this. Pretty much the entire thing was like this once we started eating it.
In other news, my girlfriend ended up puking her guts out later that night / next day, but I can't associate that with this meal because I didn't get sick. But it was bad timing, that's for sure lol

No one had watched them make the pizza???
I think it's on the cheesy crust only, a spray can is used to spray the crust. Butter? Cheesyness?

This is a mixing error. They merged two dough and didn't mix them well, so there was separation line between both the pieces. Rather being a single piece of dough, they are now like two layers in a single pizza and such outcome is obvious. It's fine to eat if cooked well, but won't delight you at all.

Why would someone do this? Adding new dough to old dough?

I've never had a pizza THAT Bad... and I go to all sorts of chains... Dominoes... Nova... PizzaPizza... 241.
My last pizza hut was Dec 2016. IT was tasty (in that junk food kind of way).
I think someone @ your location just screwed up... Show that to the manager politely and see what they can do... Probably give you a free pizza or something.
If they don't do anything? Threaten to put the pics on Redflagdeals.

You'll get a kick out of this.
Someone from the store calls me, I answer. "Did you order from here?" ... Where's "here?" Lawrence Pizza Hut? Ya ... Yes, I did.
Okay, what did you order ...
How did you order (pick-up, online).
What was the problem?
His response, "We haven't had any complaints from that day" ... (Completely not relevant to my issue).
"Whats your phone number?"
- You called me, what do you mean?
"What's your phone number for your order?"
- Why would you need that?
... I give him the number, knowing exactly what he's doing. Looking up my customer profile, to see if in a "complainer" or not!
Okay, I will give you 20% off next time you come.
I explain, you can keep your 20%, this is not my regular location and I have no intention of coming back.
He's like okay, ... End of call.
On the flip side, another location told me they don't take online orders after 9pm (open until 10pm). I emailed CS to ask, is this true, little bizarre.
That manager calls me and apologizes, says I don't know why you were told that, I'm going to follow up with the employee.
Come by for a free pizza.
The place I didn't even order from! Now THAT's good customer service.
Over at Lawrence and Bellamy though ... 20% haha
No thanks!

Good service...
At least they did something... Quick communication and action... That thought I think really counts. Sure it isn't a free pizza or a million dollars. But I would be happy with the acknowledgement... In the end I think the pizza would taste the same, just less attractive looking.
I noticed that every time I get a pizza hut... They open the box for you to check if its up to your satisfaction. I guess its also to avoid arguments... "But we show every pizza before we let it leave our store..."

Well my issue is, the poor product they put out, they aren't getting in crap for. Its falling on deaf ears.
I paid in full, ate it. Complained to head office, who forwards it over to manager. Manager basically says, I don't care.
And that flip the box around, have a look thing. Yeah, they didn't do that either. Yes, many times they do that.
Oh and it didn't taste the same, we found it dry like when you refrigerate it and then microwave it back up. Wasn't enjoyable.
ANYWAYS,
It's all being taken care of. I just wanted to know, how did it happen? Got some good replies here, RFD to the rescue!

I don't think that was good service at all. They should have at least offered a free pizza or a refund.

The last time I ordered a pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut, there were only like 10 pieces of pepperoni on the whole pizza (a large). That was many years ago (almost 10 years, I think), and definitely the last time I order from them. Disgusting practice they run.
I now order from a local place that makes much better pizza than anything I've ever gotten from Pizza Hut, even when Pizza Hut was actually good. This is a double pepperoni and bacon bits:
A slice of that pizza has about as much pepperoni on it than the last pizza I ordered from Pizza Hut.

I spent my college years working at Pizza Hut ( 2003-2006 ) and I'm doomed to remember all the recipes for the rest of my life.
Concerning the numbers of pepperonis : a large, standard (non-stuffed) pizza should have 36 on it. Another layer on top, if you take the pepperoni's lovers. A small-size should have 12 and a medium should have 24. I think they’re downsizing the number of about a third if you ask for a stuffed crust, as I remember always putting more pepperonis anyway since a pepperoni pizza full of holes is a rip-off.
About the double-layered crust, the blame should entirely be put on the employee who made the dough. While it's common to have ”leftovers” at the end, you can work the dough while it’s fresh so it can be smooth and uniform like any other dough. An older, dryer crust cannot provide the same result and should have ended up in the trash.
The spray used on the stuffed crust pizza is a simple garlic-flavor oil spray (probably full of additives) used to make the crust shiny-shiny and less dry, much like the buttery coat (not sure it’s 100 % butter though) put on breadsticks. They will not spray oil or add butter if you ask for it while you order, but it’s like a the ”secret McDonalds menu” demand or something.
