Please don’t yell at me for making a winter Aperol spritz!
I’ve changed the game a little and while a winter Aperol spritz is not exactly the original classic… I think you can get into it. Trust me.
This drink is PERFECT for your holiday festivities. It’s festive. And it’s light. It’s refreshing!
It’s easy to make one or five.
I actually have an aperol spritz punch in my holiday entertaining guide, so you should run and grab that too!
A few months ago, Lacy made us Aperol spritzs on a Saturday night and they were SO good.
Wait. Is it spritz’s? Spritzs? Spritzes? SPRITZ-ZES?
You know. She made them for us here and they were incredible. We’ve been obsessed ever since!
I know that they tend to be a summer drink but I love how refreshing they are after a long week. Yes, they might be even better in the sunshine, but for now I’m going to hole up next to my sparkling Christmas tree and drink a winter Aperol spritz.
Okay! So let’s talk about how I added a little winter love to this baby – because it only comes down to one thing. Cranberry!
The cranberry juice complements the Aperol (which is a little citrusy) – and the orange peel and the Prosecco so perfectly. It almost makes you think that it could permanently be a part of the drink! It just goes with it. Fits in smoothly. As a result, you basically feel like you’re drinking in the holidays.
An orange twist and a rosemary sprig finish it off. It’s so freaking simple but this just tastes amazing. I’m so glad I bit the bullet and got a bottle of Aperol – it’s now a permanent staple.
And isn’t it the prettiest drink ever?!

Just what I was thinking! We had these when we were in Florence this past May, no cranberry though. Cranberry makes this perfect for the holidays.

Perfect! One of my guests described it as “the kind of drink you pay $30 for at a bar in Brooklyn”, i.e. high praise!

Love the idea of a fall/winter Aperol co*cktail. I omitted the club soda. Dropped in a few frozen cranberries to make it look festive. Thank you soooooo much!

I made about 63oz by multiplying the recipe, and thus each ingredient, by 7. I used a glass pitcher. I poured smaller glassesful from the pitcher and had enough for 10 for bookgroup! Garnished each glass, though used a smaller rosemary piece.

Do you use cranberry juice co*cktail (which has some sugar in it) or the 100% straight cranberry juice (which is a little tart)? Thank you!
-
Jessica — Reply
