8x10 Wood Greenhouse Plans | MyOutdoorPlans (2024)

This step by step diy project is about8×10greenhouseplans. If you want to build a hobby greenhouse from wood, you should definitely take a closer look to these plans. This greenhouse has a gable roof and doors placed tothe front and to the back of the construction. Take a look over the rest of mywoodworking plans, if you want to get more building inspiration.

When buying the lumber, you should select the planks with great care, making sure they are straight and without any visible flaws (cracks, knots, twists, decay). Investing in cedar or other weather resistant lumber is a good idea, as it will pay off on the long run. Use a spirit level to plumb and align the components, before inserting the galvanized screws, otherwise the project won’t have a symmetrical look. If you have all the materials and tools required for the project, you could get the job done in about a day. See all my Premium Plans HERE.

How to build a 8×10 wood greenhouse

The first step of the project is to build the skids for the greenhouse. As you can easily notice in the diagram, you need to make notches to both ends of the 4×4 beams. Make 1 3/4″ deep parallel cuts to the beams, as shown in the diagram. Use a chisel to remove the excess and then smooth the edges.

Building the base

Select a proper location for the greenhouse, making sure you comply with the local codes. Check if the soil is fertile and then make sure the greenhouse will get at least 8″ of light every single day. Lay the skids on the ground, making sure the corners are square. Align the edges flush, drill pilot holes and insert 3 1/2″ screws to lock the beams together tightly.
